CTU NEWS: Listen to the 'Step Up' Soundtrack and Songs from 'Step Up 2: The Streets' on the New CTU MP3 Player

I recently helped Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan's good friend Josh, design and create the Official Samantha Jade Fan Site at SamanthJadeFans.com, because he has been so helpful to CTU by sending us lots of personal pictures on behalf of the couple. You can check out the fan site by clicking on the screen shot below:

When I created that site, I figured out how to put an MP3 player on it so fans could listen to Samantha Jade's songs. Now Channing Tatum fans can benefit from that discovery, because I have added the new CTU MP3 Player to the blog.

You can now listen to the entire 'Step Up' soundtrack, and I have also added Cassie's song for 'Step Up 2: The Streets'. All you have to do is click on the song you want to hear.

I will also periodically add songs from other Channing Tatum movies very soon. You can thank CTU reader Tina from the Philippines for suggesting that I add the player to the blog. I hope you enjoy the new Channing Tatum Unwrapped MP3 Player!

BLAST FROM THE PAST: Channing Tatum Is Having a Moment

Here is one of my favorite stills from Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan's dance movie 'Step Up'. It was also taken during my all time favorite dance movie scene.

More importantly, it's an Ultra High Quality (UHQ) picture that allows you to see pratically every beautiful little hair follicle growing out of Channing's head.

Believe it or not, I recently found this and 86 other high quality images of Channing from lots of different movies, photo shoots, and public appearances. I'm in the process of uploading them to the photo gallery and I will make a post today or tomorrow to let you know when I am done. Just consider this image a sneak peak.

In my never-ending search for anything Channing-related, I also found this old Entertainment Weekly article that was published on my birthday last year (August 25, 2006) a few weeks after 'Step Up' was released.

It's another short interview, but I highlighted in red the part that kind of caught my attention. Hopefully I'm not the only one who gets the well-placed double meaning in Channing's answer. If I am, then shame on me. Enjoy! :-D

Channing Tatum Is Having a Moment
Channing Tatum has had a big year -- The ''Step Up'' star has stepped up in Hollywood

By Tim Stack

One look and it's easy to imagine Channing Tatum's early career as a pinup for Dolce & Gabbana and an extra in Ricky Martin's ''She Bangs'' video. What's surprising about the 26-year-old star of STEP UP — which earned $20.7 million over its opening weekend — is that he never studied dance: ''I basically freestyled a lot,'' he says. ''I'm really good at physical things.'' Well, then. Not only does the ex-football player have rhythm, he has charisma to spare — as evidenced by turns in this year's SHE'S THE MAN and Sundance fave A GUIDE TO RECOGNIZING YOUR SAINTS, a coming-of-age indie set in Queens, out Sept. 29. But the Florida native is most excited about shooting Boys Don't Cry director Kimberly Peirce's long-awaited, untitled follow-up film. Tatum and Ryan Phillippe play Iraq vets brought home and immediately ordered back overseas. ''The material is so good,'' says Tatum. ''Some of the best I've ever read.'' Luckily, there's no dancing required.

Source: EW.com

And my retort to Channing's declaration that he is really good at physical things? Well, the most PG-13 thing I can say is...I bet you are Mr.Tatum...I just bet you are. ;-) :-P

NEWS FLASH: Channing Tatum Poster in Sugar Magazine's August 2007 Lad Mag in the UK

I just learned that Channing Tatum will be in the August 2007 issue of the UK's Lad Mag which is produced by the makers of the popular monthly UK teen girls magazine, Sugar Magazine.

The cover image you see here is from an Ebayer who is selling a copy of the magazine, so I don't have a high quality scan of it, but I figured I would give my UK readers a heads up so you can buy it when the next issue of the magazine is released on the stands.

From what I can tell from the cover of the magazine, Channing will be featured in Lad Mag's "Raw Celeb Hotness: Sexy Poster Special" section.

You can view Sugar Magazine's Lad Mag website by clicking on the image below:

I think that Channing's issue of the Lad Mag will be released around August 28, 2007, so be on the look out for it. Also, if you do get the magazine and you happen to have a scanner, feel free to send any scans to ctu@channingtatumunwrapped.com so I can share Channing in all of his "raw celebrity hottness" with fans around the world. Channing Tatum's Movie 'Stop Loss' Sheds Light on the Harsh Realities of War

Like many of the war movies that will be coming out in the next year or so, Channing Tatum and Ryan Phillippe's highly-anticipated war drama, 'Stop Loss', was created to make people think twice about the US's involvement in the current war in Iraq by showing us the harsh realities of today's vets who return home from the war and the internal struggle that soldiers deal with when they are forced to return to duty even though they thought their tour was over.

The New York Times online recently published article on some of the films that will be coming out soon and in the article, we learn a little more about 'Stop Loss' and the contraversial timing of its release.

Here's a snippet of the article called 'While Real Bullets Fly, Movies Bring War Home'
by writer Michael Cieply:

...Other coming films also use the damaged Iraq veteran to raise questions about a continuing war. In “Grace Is Gone,” directed by James C. Strouse and due in October from the Weinstein Company, John Cusack and two daughters struggle with the loss of a wife and mother who is killed on duty. Kimberly Peirce’s “'Stop-Loss',” set for release in March by Paramount, meanwhile, casts Ryan Phillippe as a veteran who defies an order that would send him back to Iraq.

In the past, Hollywood usually gave the veteran more breathing space. William Wyler’s “Best Years of Our Lives,” about the travails of those returning from World War II, was released more than a year after the war’s end. Similarly Hal Ashby’s “Coming Home” and Oliver Stone’s “Born on the Fourth of July,” both stories of Vietnam veterans, came well after the fall of Saigon.

“Media in general responds much more quickly than ever before,” said Scott Rudin, a producer of “Stop-Loss.” “Why shouldn’t movies do the same?” He said his film was deliberately scheduled to be released in the middle of the presidential campaign season...

'Stop Loss' will have it's theatrical release in the US on March 28, 2008. Thanks JC for bringing this article to my attention.

Channing Tatum and Girlfriend Jenna Dewan in US Weekly Magazine

I just happened to buy this week's US Weekly and OK magazines yesterday, because its been such a crazy celebrity news week with Britney Spears losing it at her OK Magazine shoot and Lindsay Lohan breaking all sorts of laws by wearing someone else's pants (oh and by falling off the wagon, getting involved in a drunkened car chase, and getting caught with drugs in the afore-mentioned pants days after exiting rehab for the second time this year). Needless to say, it made for an interesting tabloid week.

I must admit that reading those kind of magazines and the gossip sites is a guilty pleasure of mine, but I have been so busy that I had not actually read either of the mags I bought yesterday morning. So when Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan Tina from the Phillipines told me that Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan were in US weekly this week, I was happy to realize I already had the magazine on hand.

Here is the scan of the cover of the August 6, 2007 issue of US Weekly Magazine headlined by Hollywood's Sexy Dads:

Here is the scan of Channing Tatum and his girlfriend Jenna Dewan in the pool at the Cain in the Cove grand opening of the Atlantis Paradise Island Royal Tower Bahamas:

In case you missed it, you can click here to see this picture and lots of other pictures of the "Swimming Sweehearts" enjoying themselves on their Bahamas vacation a few days ago.

Another Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan by the name of Vivian L. found a blog writer who ran into Channing and Jenna on their vacation. The person who writes a blog called Blonde Rules had this to say about our favorite couple Chenna:

"Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum...They were absolutely adorable...They danced every night at the clubs together and I mean like dance-off dance. Straight out of their last movie together - kind of moves. It was a riot. They were very sweet and nice to everyone and so willing to pose for photos..."

So I guess that explains these...

And these...

Oh yeah and especially this one...

How awesome is it that Channing and Jenna had 'Step Up' style dance-offs in the clubs in the Bahamas! What I would have given to see that!!

Thanks so much Tina and Vivian for passing this info along to me! Also, if you see Channing Tatum in a magazine or get a scoop on him that you think other readers may be interested in, please just send me an email to ctu@channingtatumunwrapped.com and I will gladly share it with CTU readers. Thanks!

I am excited to tell you that I was just contacted by a person representing Touchstone Pictures for 'Step Up 2: The Streets', the sequel to Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan's dance movie 'Step Up' which will star Robert Hoffman and Briana Evigan.

She asked me if I would share a few more details with you all about the competitions that the film is having to find talented dancers and singers to be showcased in the film and on the soundtrack. Here is the information that she wanted you all to have:

Being a Channing Tatum fan, I thought you and your readers would be interested to know that Touchstone Pictures is giving fans across the country an opportunity to be part of the sequel!

Users have 3 ways to be a part of the movie for a priceless chance to:

1. Display their Talent as a Solo Dancer on the Big Screen
2. Perform in the Film with their Dance Crew
3. Appear as a Singer on the Official Soundtrack

To enter, users are invited to join the STEP UP 2 THE STREETS MySpace profile and record themselves or their dance groups dancing to a demo track from the film’s soundtrack by August 10, 2007. A group of finalists will be selected by the filmmaking team – including director Jon Chu, lead actors Briana Evigan and Robert Hoffman, as well as choreographers from the film. MySpace users will vote for the ultimate winners who are expected to appear in the film.

It would be great if you could share information about this contest with your readers – wouldn’t it be awesome if someone from your site won?

It would be INCREDIBLE if a CTU reader or readers could win this competition, so I hope you all enter soon, because that August 10th deadline is right around the corner.

The even cooler thing is she also said that she would have more info in the coming months, so stay tuned to Channing Tatum Unwrapped, your #1 'Step Up 2: The Streets' information source where I bring you all of the inside scoop first!!!

Channing Tatum Pictures of the Week: Fabulous Fan Photo Submission

Each week Channing Tatum Unwrapped will post one or more of our favorite pictures of the uber hot Channing Tatum.

Today's Picture of the Week was submitted by Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan Gina from the Philippines. It's an adorable personal photo of Channing Tatum with his cousin Hunter.

Here is why Gina chose this photo as the Picture of the Week:

I love how channing looks happy with his cousin. I love how he slants his head to show how he loves his relatives. I hope that one day that Chan and I can have that pose togther lol! (Who wouldnt want to be in Hunter's place?) It really shows how sweet chan can be.

Gina also sent me this great poem that she wrote and that is inspired by what we now know is Channing's real name (Channing Matthew Tatum). Check it out!

Carefully I close my eyes and dream of
Holding your hand
As you hold mine and
Never letting go of my ongoing fantasy
Never stopping the dream that
I have always kept here in my heart but I remind myself once more that I would
Never have you, as you already belong to someone else
Greater than who I am right now.
Many times I have told myself that I
Am only a fool to hold on to
This feeling inside me because
Too many tears
Tave I shed for an
Entire broken heart but I still
Wish you we're mine and
Telling me that everything will be
Alright and
That you
Understand
Me...

Thank you, Gina, for submitting this photo and especially, for your amazing poem! Who knew I had such a talented poet as a reader! Thank you so much for sharing that and allowing me to post it for other fans to enjoy. :-D

Lately the media keeps talking about how Channing Tatum is the next generation Brad Pitt. Well, it looks like the two hotties are going to be going head to head (or at least their movies will be) very soon at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), which runs from September 6 - 15, 2007.

It was just announced that Brad's movie 'The Assassination of Jesse James' will also premiere at the festival along with Channing's movie 'Battle in Seattle'. Festival organizers also announced Thursday that Sean Penn's "Into the Wild," will premiere at the festival and Channing is slated to star with him in Oliver Stone's the upcoming Vietnam war drama 'Pinkville'.

Channing's Vancouver-shot drama which chronicled the turbulent 1999 anti-globalization protests against the World Trade Organization will be introduced to the festival goers in the Special Presentation category.

Channing Tatum as a riot cop named Johnson in 'Battle in Seattle'.

'Battle in Seattle' is written and directed by actor-turned-director Stuart Townsend. Let's Get Channing Tatum on People.com!!!

Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan and avid CTU reader Jan (aka JC for all of us CBox junkies) was understandingly appalled when she visited People.com and found that the site does not currently have a Channing Tatum profile in its Celebrity Directory.

Jan pointed out that if "celebrities" like Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie have profiles, why in the world would Channing not have one and I have to agree with her on that one.

So she asked me to spread the word and corral CTU readers so we can all contact People.com and ask them to PLEASE add a Channing Tatum profile to the site.

CTU has had almost 200,000 visitors over the past few months that this fan site has been live and I believe that there is power in numbers. So, how can you help?

Please just send an email to webmaster@people.com and politely request that they add a Channing Tatum profile to the site, much like I did with About.com. It took them 3 months to finally add the profile, but it is there now and that's all that matters.

So please just send an email (or maybe a few emails) to People.com today so we can help Channing get his profile added to the People.com Celebrity Directory! I think we all know that he deserves to be there.

Thanks for your help and thanks to Jan for suggesting this!!!

BLAST FROM THE PAST: 'Step Up' Star Finds Footing

I just found this short Channing Tatum interview done last year for the release of 'Step Up'. I liked it, because we get to learn whether Channing thinks he's a lover or a fighter, and we learn one fact that he thinks would shock his fans. Enjoy!

'Step Up' Star Finds Footing

That Channing Tatum is genetically blessed is hardly up for debate. But now, the chiseled Abercrombie & Fitch model is also a bona fide box-office draw, with his dance love story Step Up grossing a surprising $20.7 million over the weekend. In the flick, Tatum's bad-boy rebel busts a move with a dainty ballerina, played by Jenna Dewan. On Monday, Tatum, 26, called from the Austin set of an untitled Kimberly Peirce drama, in which he plays a soldier, to discuss making love and war on the big screen.

Q: With Step Up's success, you're a movie star. How's it going today?

A: I feel like I'm about to wake up from this dream. Like it's some big practical joke. It's so surreal right now.

Q: Dancing, as we know, isn't for wimps. Was it tough for you to learn?

A: I did fall on my head once, but no one got hurt. Jenna bruised her rib doing one lift. We were practicing it, and I bruised her rib a little bit. You're always sore and have bruised knees.

Q: And Jenna is your girlfriend in real life, right?

A: I don't know what you're talking about. Nice try. She's an amazing girl.

Q: You're playing a soldier, alongside Ryan Phillippe (Crash, Gosford Park), in the movie you're shooting now. How's that going for you?

A: I'm having the time of my life. I'm getting to play war. It's a crash course on amazing material. Ryan's a genius. This kid is teaching me so much — how to prepare for a film, just getting to watch him. He's just classy and thinks everything out really well. He's a polite kid.

Q: So which are you: a lover or a fighter?

A: I'm definitely a lover, but I don't mind scrapping at all. I consider myself a lover. You gotta have a little bit of both, so I try to find a middle ground.

Q: What would your fans be shocked to learn about you?

A: I like to bowl. I can handle myself on the lane!

It's a great photo of Channing Tatum supporting his 'A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints' co-star Shia LaBeouf at the 'Disturbia Premiere' in April 2007.

I nominate this pic for the POTW why? Its because I love how Channing supports his friends with their work. I still hope that Channing will remain as down to earth as he is right now! He even looked happy for his friend Shia. Plus, I like it when he wears something brown cuz it shows his pretty eyes. **Much love to CTU.**

NEWS FLASH: 'Step Up 2: The Streets' Launches New Website and Competition

After months of me releasing details about the movie in bits and pieces as I found information all over the internet, 'Step Up 2: The Streets', the sequel to Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan's infectious dance movie 'Step Up', has finally made an official announcement about the movie and has put up the new MySpace profile for the movie that will star Robert Hoffman.

Here is the new 'Step Up 2: The Streets' site on MySpace where you can also check out a video of the lead, Robert Hoffman dancing:

It seems that they will be looking for both dancers and singers to showcase their talents in the movie and on the film's soundtrack. If you are going to enter the competition, you should go to the MySpace Page to get the rules, submit your solo and dance team videos, get tips on how to increase your chances of winning the competion, and to download the music you need to use in your audition video. They will start looking for singers in October for the movie that will release in February 2008.

I also found a new article in the Hollywood Reporter that gives us more info on the movie's recent announcment, confirms a lot of the information that I had already posted on the blog over the past few months, and tells you how you can get involved in choosing the contest winner. Here's the article:

'Step Up 2' Ready to Dance

By Carolyn Giardina

"Step Up 2 the Streets," the sequel to Touchstone Pictures/Summit Entertainment's "Step Up," has announced its cast along with a MySpace talent competition where the winner might appear in the film.

Briana Evigan, Robert Hoffman, Telisha Shaw and Adam G. Sevani will star, along with singer-model-actress Cassie, who will sing a song featured in the film and on the soundtrack.

Jon Chu will direct the sequel to the coming-of-age dance film. Set at the Maryland School of the Arts, the story follows revolves around dance student Patrick (Hoffman) and rebellious new student Andie (Evigan).

Building on "Dance in the Video, Be in the Movie" -- the user-generated contest for "Step Up" that appeared on MySpace before the first film's release -- Touchstone is holding a second competition. Aspiring singers and dancers are invited to upload audition tapes to the film's MySpace page. Entries will be viewed by the filmmakers, cast and choreographers of "Step Up 2," who will select a group of finalists. MySpace voters will determine the winners. Chosen dancers are expected to appear in the film either solo or with their dance crew, while the singer will record a track for the film's official soundtrack. Some entrants also might see their audition tape during the film's end credits.

"Step Up 2" reunites producers Patrick Wachsberger and Erik Feig of Summit Entertainment with Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot of Offspring Entertainment, who also produced the original "Step Up." Meredith Milton, David Nicksay and Anne Fletcher will executive produce. Returning to choreograph is Jamal Sims, who will be joined by Hi-Hat and Dave Scott. Devorah Herbert is the film's production designer, and Max Malkin will be serve as director of photography. Principal photography begins Monday in Baltimore.

"Step Up," directed by Fletcher and starring Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, grossed more than $65 million domestically and more than $50 million internationally last year.

Touchstone and Summit Entertainment are co-financing "Step Up 2," and Summit will distribute the film internationally. Kristin Burr and Todd Murata are the development execs for Touchstone.

Hoffman's credits include "You Got Served" and "She's the Man." He is repped by Pakula/King and Associates, and Handprint Entertainment.

Shaw is repped by Insomnia Media Group.
