NEWS FLASH: 'Step Up 2: The Streets' Needs Edgy and Urban Background Actors and Dancers
If you've been reading the blog for a while, you know that Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan will not be reprising their roles as Tyler Gage and Nora Clark in the Jon Chu directed 'Step Up 2: The Streets' (the sequel to their successful 2006 film, 'Step Up'), because it has a completely new storyline and new characters. You also know that Channing's 'She's the Man' co-star Robert Hoffman will play the male lead in the new film that is currently in the middle of the casting process.
Central Casting is currently looking for background actors and dancers for 'Step Up 2: The Streets' which will film in Baltimore, Maryland between July 30, 2007 and September 26, 2007. They are looking for several actors over the age of 18 who look like high school students. They will need several people with dancing experience, more specifically Hip Hop dance.
The first open call was today Thursday, July 12, 2007 from 2-4pm, but they are also holding an open call tomorrow Friday, July 13, 2007 from 10am - Noon at the Central Casting Office in DC (623 Pennsylvania Ave, SE, Washington, DC 20003).
If you want to audition, you should make sure to bring a current snapshot with you to the open call. They are looking for all types of looks, but are especially interested in men or women of any ethnicity from ages 18 - 24 with edgy, urban looks to play upscale, priviledged students.
They will be holding an open call in the Baltimore office as well, most likely sometime next week. They do not have details on that yet, so you should check the Mandy.com casting website for future announcements. In order for you to be considered, they require that you be seen in person and you should apply to Mandy Sprinkel.
Good luck!
