NEWS FLASH: A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints Screening at the Dublin International Film Festival

Channing Tatum's movie A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints will be screening at the 5th Jameson Dublin International Film Festival in Ireland on February 18, 2007. The festival runs from February 16 - 25, 2007 and more than 100 films will be screened.

Here is a great description of the movie written by AO Scott of the New York Times:

Like many sensitive young men in rough circumstances Dito, growing up fast in Astoria, Queens in 1986, dreams of flight. He can’t wait to get away from home – from the noise and violence of the streets, and from the cramped chaos of the house where he lives with his irascible father, (Chazz Palminteri), and his gentle, weary mother, (Dianne Wiest)...Working with a large, mostly young cast, he has made a picture so full of life and feeling that the screen can hardly contain it. Though the picture is wrenching, at times devastating, it leaves you with that buoyant feeling of having encountered a raw, authentic work of art. All those howls of pain are its way of telling you that it is madly, defiantly, uncontrollably alive.

DID YOU KNOW?...If you do get a chance to see the movie, you may want to take note of an anachronism [an error in chronology in which a person, object, event, etc., is assigned a date or period other than the correct one] in one of Channing's scenes. In the scene where Antonio beats a character called the Reaper with a bat in a store you can see Listerine Pocketpacks breath strips which didn't come to the market until the 21st century. The movie, which is based on the writer and director's book of the same name, was set in the 1970s and 1980s, aka the 20th century.
