Channing Tatum's Fun Football Facts

Here is a sexy picture of Channing Tatum modeling for Nautica a few years ago. As you probably already know, today is the Superbowl in the US and well over 150 million people around the world will be watching it for the game itself, for the highly anticipated commercials only, or for a little bit of both.

With such a large portion of the population watching the Superbowl today, I think we can safely assume that Channing is going to be watching it like the rest of us. He may even be in Florida as we speak. Either way, in honor of the popular annual tradition, I figure I can give you a few football related facts as they pertain to the extremely athletic actor.

• When Channing was very young and living in Mississippi, he played Pop Warner football to stay busy and keep out of trouble.

• Channing played football in the Police Athlete leagues as he got older and knew from day one that football was his passion. Channing actually said, "The only reason I wanted to graduate high school was to get a scholarship and play football.".

• Part of the reason Channing wanted to play football so badly was to follow in his Dad's footsteps and Channing and his Dad's love of football was a subject that always kept them connected.

• When Channing played football on scholarship at Glenville State College in West Virginia, the fun sport from his younger years became more of a job when the coaches required them to take part in the grooling two-a-day and three-a-day practices. A typical day included the hectic schedule of waking up at 6am, getting on the field by 7:30am, practicing for 3 hours, studying in football study groups for 1 hour, working out in the weight room, eating lunch, practicing for another 3 hours, attending school again, and then maybe getting 6 hours of sleep. Channing didn't mind the work, but the difficult schedule took a lot of the fun out of the game for him.

• As a native of Alabama, Channing is a Crimson Tide fan.

• Channing used to be really into anything football-related. Once he stopped playing organzed sports, he really stopped watching them in most cases too. He would rather be playing a sport than just being a spectator or arm-chair quarterback.

• When Channing played football in school, he usually played on the defense as linebacker or as a defensive end.

• When asked to compare acting to football, Channing feels that both require a high level of discipline.

• If Channing could choose an athlete to play in a movie role, he would choose versatile baseball, football, basketball and track and field athlete, Jim Thorpe. He feels that Jim was by far one of the more phenomenal super human athletes of anybody's time.

So there you go. Everything you ever wanted to know about Channing Tatum and one of his favorite sports, football. Have fun watching the game today. Go COLTS!!!!
