'Step Up 2: The Streets' Unwrapped
'Step Up 2: The Streets' started principal photography on July 30, 2007 in it's one and only location of Baltimore, Maryland.
The film wrapped up casting also on July 30th with what they are saying is their last open call for extras for the movie. I am still on cloud nine knowing that Channing will have a cameo in the movie.
A poster on IMDB recently said that he was impressed because Robert Hoffman, the male lead in the sequel to 'Step Up', can truly b-boy, which is a hard-core, breaker style of dance. How does he now know this? Well...
As I previously posted on the blog, Robert Hoffman has been preparing for his role in 'Step Up 2: The Streets' in Baltimore for about a month now (way before filming ever started).
Now we know why he arrived in Baltimore so early. The IMDB poster says Rob has been preparing for his role as a b-boy in 'Step Up 2: The Streets' by dancing with the underground dance community in Baltimore for the past few weeks. The poster who is a b-boy himself and says the following, "You have to give the man respect for actually researching his role and throwing down with everyone else."
With that said, I think it's about time that I pull all of the vital information about 'Step Up 2: The Streets' together and unwrap the film like only CTU can do it. Enjoy!
ORIGINAL STORY LINE: Having grown up in the Maryland School of the Arts, Patrick Collins (18) feels creatively confined by the restraints of the now, more than ever, commercialized school. He hears of a legendary, underground team dance battle that happens every year called The Streets that only locals have access to (think Fight Club but for dance) and he is by no means a local.
When Andie West (17), a B-girl who is part of the best team that competes in The Streets starts to attend MSA, sparks fly and Patrick is let into the underbelly of the Baltimore dance scene. Rather than about an outsider coming in, this is about an insider breaking out taking dance out of the studio and back to the streets where it all began. It's about defining who you are and discovering where you belong.
CURRENT STORY LINE (UNCONFIRMED): When rebellious street dancer Andie (BRIANA EVIGAN) lands at the elite Maryland School of the Arts, she finds herself fighting to fit in while also trying to hold onto her old life. When she joins forces with the school’s hottest dancer Chase (Robert Hoffman) to form a crew of classmate outcasts to compete in Baltimore’s underground dance battle The Streets, she ultimately finds a way to live her dream while building a bridge between her two separate worlds.

Step Up 2 sounds like its going to be awesome! I have seen Robert Hoffman before and he really looks like he can dance so I am glad to see him step into the lead role!! Can't wait till this comes out! Thanks for the info!!
You're welcome, Saliary!
Is andie in step up 1? what is the link between the two films?
Andie is a friend of Tyler's from the neighborhood and she was not in the first movie. Tyler (Channing) and Nora (in a sense) are the bridges between the two movies.
