CTU IN THE NEWS: Channing Tatum and Channing Tatum Unwrapped Mentioned on ESPN.com

I am so excited, because I just found out that one of the writers for ESPN.com recently wrote an article on Channing Tatum and used one of my blog articles as a source.

The connection seemed really weird to me at first. My first thought was why would the #1 sports site in the world be quoting a fan site on an actor. Then I read the article and figured out what they were talking about.

I wrote an article called "Channing Tatum's Fun Football Facts" on Super Bowl Sunday this year and the writer pulled some of my info out of that article.

Here is a screen shot of the article:

DRESSED FOR ACTION

It's no surprise people.com recently anointed Channing Tatum — the acclaimed actor in "Drive," the 2002 Mountain Dew commercial — as one of the Internet's five "sexiest guys." I am looking at his photo now, in which he is wearing a black leather jacket over a tee shirt, while grabbing his belt with his left hand like he's adjusting his … uh … package.

Like many of us, Tatum revealed to people.com, he dreamed of being an athlete.

"The star of 'A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints' is a fave in chat rooms, where admirers dissect his 'beautiful flaws,' like his scars," the Web site reports.

"'There's one on my eyebrow from playing baseball,' he says. 'A ground ball jumped up and hit me in the face. That's all I'll tell you about my scars. I don't want to seem like a degenerate.'"

Tatum, who has modeled for Vogue and who is 6-foot-1, with green eyes and whose preferred grooming product is St. Ives Body Scrub, in fact won a full football scholarship to Glenville State College, a D-2 school in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

According to Channing Tatum Unwrapped, which claims to be "the No. 1 Channing Tatum fan blog," the Pioneers recruited the actor to play linebacker and defensive end. Tatum might have been one of the greats, had he not quit the team fall of his freshman year, shortly after two-a-day drills began. According to the blog, the practices took "a lot of the fun out of the game for him." Soon after, he dropped out of school to take the field for the Abercrombie & Fitch and Emporio Armani catalogs instead.

Yet Tatum has never forsaken his love of sports. Between photo shoots he runs along Miami Beach's South Beach to stay in shape, the fashion Web site, solis.com reports.

Personally, I'm hoping to catch Tatum July 8 at San Francisco's AT&T Park (24 Willie Mays Plaza, Web site), during major league baseball's 2007 All-Star Sunday. (Sold out. Consult StubHub! Buy tickets.) I'm rooting for him to earn another sexy scar while performing in the Celebrity Softball Game — cap by Abercrombie & Fitch, sunglasses by Nautica, uniform by Armani.

You can also check out the article yourself at ESPN.com. Hopefully this will be the first of many mentions of Channing Tatum Unwrapped in the established media. :-D

Thanks, Rachael! I could not believe it when I found it last night, but I am very proud of it needless to say. It was definitely an unexpected result of me writing this blog.
