NEWS FLASH: Rapper Xzibit Joins Channing Tatum in Oliver Stone's 'Pinkville'
HollywoodReporter.com is saying that rapper-turned-actor and MTV's "Pimp My Ride" star Xzibit (aka Alvin Nathaniel Joiner) is going to join Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis, Woody Harrelson, and Michael Peña in Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone's upcoming Vietnam war drama 'Pinkville'.
As we recently learned from Channing and in a casting call for the film, 'Pinkville' is going to start filming in Thailand in the next few weeks.
The true-life war drama written by Mikko Alanne focuses on the 1968 My Lai Massacre, in which more than 500 people -- mostly women, children and the elderly -- were killed by U.S. soldiers.
Xzibit will play a soldier who is convinced he carried out his orders in a moral way and in case you don't know, Channing is playing Hugh Thompson, the heroic helicopter pilot that put a stop to the massacre.
Channing and Xzibit are both managed by the Beverly Hills-based team at Management 360 and 'Pinkville' is set to have it's theatrical release in 2008.
Cinematical.com is saying that Oliver Stone is also eying Michael Pitt to play Lt. William Calley, the Army officer who was found guilty of ordering the 1968 My Lai Massacre. Also joining the film is Toby Jones, who will portray Lt. Andre Feher, the chief warrant officer who tries to convince Willis' character, Gen. William Peers, that the U.S. Army is responsible for the massacre.
With the star and director power behind this film, it will definitely be one to watch and is a huge leap forward for Chan, an extremely talented actor who is quickly on the road to being a household name.
