Release Date News for Jenna Dewan's 'The Jerk Theory'

Fans are always asking when 'The Jerk Theory', Jenna Dewan's romantic comedy with her 'Step Up' co-star Josh Henderson, will be released in theaters. Once again, CTU is on the case...

The film's IMDB page was recently updated and someone changed the release date to September 9, 2009. The problem is, the production did not make the update and subsequently, that's not the actual release date.

I contacted one of the producers to double check the date before I updated you all. They confirmed that September 9th is not correct, and they are actually hoping to release film earlier in the year. Regardless of what the IMDB page is saying, no release date has been set yet, but I was told they will hopefully have one soon, so stay tuned.

When he is burned by a bad relationship experience, he decides that if women won’t respond to the “nice guy”, then he’ll be “the jerk.” He is extremely successful with meaningless relationships, but when Adam meets and falls for Molly (Jenna Dewan), who doesn’t fall for his jerk routine, Adam is forced to reconsider his dating philosophy.

In the mean time, fans can catch Jenna Dewan in one of her previous films on television this week. If you're into horror, the 2006 film 'The Grudge 2' that also stars Amber Tamblyn and Sarah Michelle Gellar will premiere on the FX Networks on Monday, January 19, 2009 at 9:30 PM Central. Jenna Dewan's 'The Jerk Theory' Helps a Little Girl's Dreams Come True

As I previously reported, Channing Tatum's 2010 romantic drama 'Dear John' chose to cast an autistic child to play the role of Alan in the film, both for authenticity and to show how capable those with autism can be.

Similarly, Jenna Dewan's 2009 romantic comedy 'The Jerk Theory' chose to cast a child with Down Syndrome (which is a chromosomal disorder) in the role of Kate, who is the sister to Josh Henderson's character Adam in the film.

'The Jerk Theory' is about an aspiring recording artist named Adam (Josh Henderson). When he is burned by a bad relationship experience, he decides that if women won’t respond to the “nice guy”, then he’ll be “the jerk.” He is extremely successful with meaningless relationships, but when Adam meets and falls for Molly (Jenna Dewan's), who doesn’t fall for his jerk routine, Adam is forced to reconsider his dating philosophy.

Solidifying the fact that those living with disabilities can truly be an asset to the acting community, the role of Kate is played by Lily Smith, an adorable, active, and bubbly ten-year-old girl with Down Syndrome.

In the touching new video created by New Zealand-based Disability TV, we not only get to see some clips from the movie and get to learn more about the film, but we also get a glimpse into an amazing child's life where she is beating the odds and following her dreams despite the battle she has been fighting since before she was even born...

'The Jerk Theory' is supposed to hit theaters some time later this year.

Finally, I also learned that Jenna's teen comedy with Rob Schneider, 'American Virgin', will be released on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK in the next few months.

Here's what 'American Virgin' is all about...

After involuntarily over indulging and becoming drunk for the first time in her life, a freshman college girl (Jenna Dewan) discovers her sinful shenanigans have been caught on camera by a shoddy video producer. With her scholarship for college coming from an abstinence group who believe in no sex before marriage, it is a race against time and across country as she and her friends attempt to retrieve the potentially damaging footage before it is exposed.

The movie will be released on DVD on August 24, 2009 and the Blu-ray version will hit UK shelves about a month later on September 21, 2009. Fans can get more details at Lovefilm.com.

NEWS FLASH: New Poster for Jenna Dewan's 'The Jerk Theory' (And TWO New Movie Roles)

They just released the poster for Jenna Dewan's 2008 romantic comedy 'The Jerk Theory'. The movie will be coming out some time later this year, and you can CLICK HERE to watch the trailer.

It's actually one of FIVE films this hard-working actress has on her dance card this year. Here's a list of the ones we know so far:

As if that's not enough, Channing Tatum's longtime girlfriend was just recently cast in 'Virgin on Bourbon Street' (which is currently scheduled to start filming in August), and the Hollywood Reporter, E! Online, and numerous other entertainment news outlets announced today that Jenna has been cast in two more roles.

'Magdalena'

Jenna Dewan and Luke Goss are attached to star in 'Magdalena,' an adaptation of a comic book featuring an extremely attractive, holy warrior. Gale Anne Hurd's Valhalla Motion Pictures, Platinum Studios and Top Cow Prods. are producing the project.

Jenna is set to play Patience, a woman who discovers that she's a part of the lineage of female warriors descended from Mary Magdalene who fight supernatural evil, must accept her destiny in time to save the world from a supernatural evil. Luke is set to play Kristof, an agent sent by the ultra secret organization that has been the guardian of the lineage of Magdalena.

Both Jenna and Luke are scheduled to appear at Top Cow's panel at the extremely popular comic book convention Comic-Con this Saturday.

'Assorted Nightmares: The Janitor'

I also read another article today that said Hollywood's top horror directors are going to change genres for a second to bring original comedy pilots to the XBox 360 this fall. Today Microsoft Corp. announced that a set of original short film pilots will be coming to Xbox LIVE this fall and will be free to all members around the world.

In this unique concept of masters of horror will be taking on the new genre of comedy. XBox 360 owners will be able to see some of the world's greatest horror directors bring their comedic visions to life. Microsoft is teaming up with Safran Digital Group to produce these exclusive shorts.

Beginning this fall, the short film pilots will be available worldwide on Xbox LIVE from influential horror directors James Wan ("Saw," "Death Sentence"), David Slade ("30 Days of Night," "Hard Candy"), James Gunn, Lucky McKee ("May," "The Woods"), Andrew Douglas ("The Amityville Horror") and Marcus Nispel ("The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," "Friday the 13th") and emerging online talents like John Clisham.

Jenna Dewan will star in a pilot called 'Assorted Nightmares: The Janitor', which is helmed by the afore-mentioned online director John Clisham. Here's what the pilot will be about:

Somewhere in the darkness just beyond "Tales From the Crypt" and a little south of "The Twilight Zone," is "Assorted Nightmares," a modern-day horror anthology show. The first episode pays homage to the 1980s horror-slasher genre, as things at school for Jennifer don't turn out as expected."

All of the pilots will be free either for download or streaming on Xbox LIVE.

Thanks to an anonymous tipster, I just learned that 'The Jerk Theory', Jenna Dewan's romantic comedy with her 'Step Up' co-star Josh Henderson, was released on DVD in Australia on April 8, 2009, so fans there can rent it TODAY and will be able to buy the DVD in July!!!

NEWS FLASH: 'Step Up' Co-Stars Jenna Dewan and Josh Henderson Reunite on Screen for 'The Jerk Theory' and You Can Be in the Movie!!!

Extra Amelia Brubaker, Jenna Dewan, and Josh Henderson on the Set of 'The Jerk Theory' This Past Weekend

'Step Up' fans should be really excited to hear that former co-stars Jenna Dewan (Channing Tatum's real-life girlfriend) and Josh Henderson (Desperate Housewives) will reunite on-screen for their new movie 'The Jerk Theory'. It's being billed as a fun teen film (with lots of great music!) starring Josh Henderson, Jenna Dewan, and Tom Arnold.

The PolarStar Entertainment film was written by Abraham Taylor, and directed by Scott S. Anderson.

The comedy is about an aspiring recording artist named Adam (Josh Henderson), who is burned by a bad relationship experience and decides that if women won't respond to the "nice guy" then he'll be "the jerk." He is extremely successful with meaningless relationships, but when Adam meets and falls for Molly, who I'm pretty sure is played by Jenna Dewan and who doesn't fall for his jerk routine, Adam is forced to reconsider his dating philosophy.

'The Jerk Theory' is currently filming in Salt Lake City, and they need 100 people for extras on Friday November 16th and Saturday November 17th.

For this shoot, the production is looking for people of all sizes and ethnicities. Extras should be ages 13 - 25 or 30 (if you look young). All extras involved with the film will be fed and snacks will also be provided.

There is no pay for the extras used in this shoot, but if you are wanting to get involved in the movie industry, this may be a good opportunity for you, since you will get the chance to see how a major motion picture is made.

NEWS FLASH: New Interview, Video, and Movie Update for Channing Tatum's Girlfriend Jenna Dewan

It's that time again Chenna fans. It's been a while since we've had an update on Jenna Dewan's current projects. Channing Tatum's longtime girlfriend has been very busy shooting numerous movies that are scheduled to release this year, and I have quite a bit of news to share.

In addition to her new Lifetime Television movie "Fab Five: Texas Cheerleader Scandal", which premieres Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 9pm ET/PT, fans should be on the look out for Jenna in her romantic comedy 'The Jerk Theory' with 'Step Up's Josh Henderson and in the dark comedy 'Six Wives of Henry Lefay' with Tim Allen.

Abraham, one of the producers over at 'The Jerk Theory',  just let me know that they have added another video of Jenna on their YouTube channel.  In the new video, we get to learn a little more about Jenna's character Molly.

A Whole New Tim Allen in 'Six Wives,' Says Rising Starlet Dewan

"Tim Allen completely impressed me playing a totally different character than I've seen him do before -- a womanizing, gotta-love-him older man," reports Jenna Dewan, who'll be seen alongside Tim in the upcoming "The Six Wives of Henry Lefay." "It's more of a dark comedy than people are used to with him -- with all his six wives having to come back to plan his funeral after he dies, and all the insane funny things that happen when these different female personalities crash together under these circumstances. My role, actually, I can't say too much about," adds the 27-year-old actress of "Step Up" and "The Grudge 2" fame.

Jenna's definitely riding the up escalator of Hollywood fame. Her every public appearance with boyfriend Channing Tatum gets chronicled. They were recently in a dance-off on the YouTube "Miley & Mandy Show." ("How funny is that? ... I had no idea how big it had become … Both Miley and Mandy are sweethearts," she says of Miley Cyrus and Mandy Jiroux.) As for marriage prospects, however, Jenna demurs, "We'll see. I don't like to talk about my personal life too much."

She's been on a roll shooting movie after movie in recent months, including "Love Lies Bleeding" with Christian Slater and the indie coming-of-age story "Shine On." She's scheduled to begin filming "Virgin on Bourbon Street" in August. And then there's Lifetime's "Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal," debuting Aug. 2, of which she's very proud.

Based on a true story, it's about a group of cheerleaders so out of control they're drinking alcohol at school, skipping classes and bullying other students. A young coach endeavors to stop them, though administrators and parents seem bent on looking the other way. "Thank God I got to play the coach," Jenna says. As a young actress, "usually you play the girlfriend. You don't get to play someone strong. You don't receive a lot of these kind of really powerful characters that offer role models for women."

Budding actress and Fabulous Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan fan Marci from Utah was recently lucky enough to work as an extra with Channing Tatum's girlfriend Jenna Dewan on the set of her new film 'The Jerk Theory'.

As if that wasn't cool enough, she also got an opportunity to meet Channing when he recently spent time with Jenna on the Utah set of the film.

Here's what Marci had to say about her encounter with the two extremely fan-friendly stars:

It was way awesome that I got to meet Channing and Jenna, they are both WAY nice! I was way excited and had to tell everyone when I got home, lol. It was awesome that I got to be a part of a movie that Jenna is in. The greatest thing is that in their free time on set, they spent time talking to some of their fans (including me :]) When I saw Channing in the hall I said hi to him, and we started talking a bit, and I asked for a pic. It was a great experience :D

NEWS FLASH: Channing Tatum and Girlfriend Jenna Dewan's Date Night at the Movies

Thanks to celebrity blogger Jared over at the ever-popular JustJared.com we have awesome new pictures of Channing Tatum and real-life girlfriend Jenna Dewan on a movie date last night at the Arclight Cinemas theater in Los Angeles, California.

It's always good to see Channing and Jenna getting a bit of a break. Both have been extremely busy for months and just wrapped filming on a couple of movies recently. Channing completed his latest movie 'Fighting' in November right before Thanksgiving and IMDB says that Jenna's comedy 'The Jerk Theory' is currently in post production too.

Jared says that fourteen films were playing at the Arclight last night: Atonement, Charlie Wilson’s War, Juno, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, No Country For Old Men, P.S. I Love You, Sweeney Todd, The Golden Compass, The Kite Runner, The Orphanage, The Water Horse, There Will Be Blood and Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.

For fun he asks his readers which movie they think Channing and Jenna saw last night. From what I know about Channing, I'm going to put my money on Tim Burton's musical thriller Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street for a quite few reasons...Last time I saw him I recall Channing mentioning that he liked Johnny Depp's work, in interviews he said he likes both musicals and dark films, the Stop-Loss trailer just so happens to play before the film, and Sweeney Todd and Stop-Loss are both Paramount movies, so that particular film seems to fit the bill nicely. If you have an opinion on which movie you think Chenna watched, feel free to click on the comments link below this post and let everyone know.

Luckily for all of us fans, Channing and Jenna are both going to have a very busy 2008, since each of them has 4 movies scheduled for release. Just to remind everyone, Channing has the following movies coming out next year:

NEWS FLASH: Channing Tatum's Girlfriend Jenna Dewan to Star in New Movie

I wanted to let all of my fellow Fabulous Jenna Dewan Fans know that Channing Tatum's real-life girlfriend will soon start production on a new movie for Lifetime Television. The Lifetime Original Movie is called 'Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal' and also stars Academy Award winner Tatum O'Neal ("Paper Moon," "Rescue Me") and Ashley Benson ("Days of Our Lives").

The new movie is based on a true story that broke in late 2006 and follows the story of a gutsy young teacher (Jenna Dewan) who fights to end the reign of five misbehaving, beautiful, and well-connected cheerleaders who are sadly allowed to do whatever that want at a high school in the Dallas suburb of McKinney.

"The real-life story of these cheerleaders shocked many when the story broke, not only for their racy and inappropriate behavior, but also for the inaction of the school's administrators and parents," said Tanya Lopez, Senior Vice President, Original Movies, Lifetime Networks. Adding, "We hope this movie reminds parents how important it is to set limits on their children."

Here's a summary of what the story is all about:

In "Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal," Brooke Tippit (Benson), captain of the cheerleading squad and daughter to Principal Lorene Tippit (O'Neal), and her group of friends known as the "Fab Five," constantly disobey school rules and disregard teachers while administrators turn the other way. But when Emma Carr (Dewan), a bright-eye, optimistic young teacher joins the faculty as the new cheerleading coach, the girls discover they are in for quite a challenge when Emma doesn't let them get away with breaking the rules as they are use to.

The outrageous antics of the clique quickly escalate from skipping and disrupting classes to extreme partying, posting suggestive photos of themselves on the internet, bullying and other self-destructive behavior. Hoping to protect the girls from endangering themselves and damaging their futures, Emma asks for Principal Tippit's support in disciplining the girls, but is blindsided with a request for a resignation instead. Frustrated, Emma risks the end to her teaching career by breaking the news of the scandalous conduct of the "Fab Five" and administrators to the local and national media.

'Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal' will premiere in the Summer of 2008 on Lifetime Television. Congrats to Jenna on your new role!!!

NEW FLASH: New Casting Call for Jenna Dewan's Movie 'The Jerk Theory'

As I previously mentioned on the blog, Channing Tatum's real-life girlfriend, Jenna Dewan, is currently filming her next project in Utah. 'The Jerk Theory' is a romantic comedy she's starring in with 'Step Up' co-star Josh Henderson.

I found another casting call for the movie and thought I'd share it with you all....

The movie is looking for extras for this Saturday, December 1, 2007, for a library scene. The gig pays $50 per person for the day, and they are looking for people from ages 14 - 21. You are required to work for the entire 12 hour shoot.

NEWS FLASH: Watch Channing Tatum's Girlfriend Jenna Dewan in New Movie 'Wonderwall'

Channing Tatum's real-life girlfriend Jenna Dewan has quite a few movies coming out this year. If you haven't seen it yet, you should definitely watch Jenna's first movie for year called 'Love Lies Bleeding', which released on DVD on January 15, 2008. The dramatic thriller with Christian Slater is really good, and Jenna did an awesome job in it.

Another one of Jenna's 2008 films is currently in post-production and it's called 'Wonderwall' (aka My Life and Out of the Bronx). I recently found some information and what I'm calling a pre-trailer (since I'm sure it's not the final trailer for the movie) for the film on the production company's website.

WONDERWALL

CinemaLab's new film WONDERWALL was shot in Bronx, NY summer of 2007. It is currently in post production.

The film stars Jenna Dewan (Step Up) and introduces talented actor/singer/songwriter Andrew Cisneros. Other top cast members are Nester Serrano, Julie Carmen, Nicholas Gonzales, Flaco Navaja, Michael Rivera and rap artist Kazi Rolle. Writer/Director is Agustin.

WONDERWALL is a highly original adventure/love story about survival beyond one's class and condition, and the profound changes that occur when a young musician awakens the magic, the music and the possibilities for romance in the world outside the poverty and violence that are his life in the Bronx, NY.
