Thanks to the April 2009 issue of Vanity Fair Magazine, which is on US newsstands right now, we have an awesome new photo of Channing Tatum in the mag and some equally gorgeous outtakes via VanityFair.com.

I would like to point out that Channing was bestowed the honor of being the first male to ever be featured in the Vanities section of the magazine, which generally spotlights an up-and-coming actress in a 50s-style pinup shot. The magazine describes the Vanities as being on the cusp of fame or they have just hit it big; they have names you need to know and faces you won’t have trouble remembering.

You can read the online article and check out the high quality magazine scans and new outtakes below...

Channing Tatum: The Y’s Have It

The Vanities section has long featured a shapely ingénue on its opening page. For the April issue, we attempt to even the score with something a little different: a comely up-and-comer with a Y chromosome, and chrome wheels to boot. To celebrate, we’ve thrown in some outtakes.

Age: 28. Provenance: Cullman, Alabama, followed by stops in Mississippi and Florida. You might have seen him in … the teenster-approved feature Step Up (2006). “So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing with the Stars were just taking off,” says Tatum. “It was something that touched on everybody’s guilty little pleasure.” But Channing toughened up for … this month’s drama Fighting, in which he plays the bare-knuckle-brawler protégé of a street hustler (Terrence Howard), and July’s Public Enemies (based on the book by V.F. special correspondent Bryan Burrough), in which he plays the gangster Pretty Boy Floyd. And by late summertime, America will know him forevermore as … Duke, the special-ops hero at the center of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. But hey, just in case it all seems too butch to bear, there’s this: “I used to work at a puppy nursery,” Tatum says. “It was pretty cool.” —KRISTA SMITH
