I just wanted to remind all of Channing Tatum's Fabulous Fans in the Czech Republic that his latest film, 'Battle in Seattle', just premiered in your country YESTERDAY!!!

New Photos of Channing Tatum at the 'Sugar' Premiere

Channing Tatum attended the premiere of Sony Pictures Classics' sports drama 'Sugar', which was held at the Silver Screen Theater at the Pacific Design Center on March 18, 2009 in Los Angeles, California. I have added sixty new photos to the CTU Photo Gallery that show Chan arriving at the event.

In addition to Chan, celebs like Ryan Gosling, Jessica Alba, Melonie Diaz, and Cuba Gooding Jr. also attended the premiere last night.

'Sugar' follows Dominican Republic born baseball pitcher Miguel "Sugar" Santos (played by Algenis Perez Soto), who gets recruited to play in the minor leagues in the US. I've read that it's an incredible look at the life of these born-to-play baseball players from the Dominican Republic and the culture shock they get when they arrive in America to start playing in the minor leagues. 'Sugar' premieres in the US in limited release on April 3rd and in the UK on June 5th.

VIDEO OF THE WEEK: CTU Exclusive Footage of Channing Tatum Parachuting with the Golden Knights!!!

Today's awesome Video of the Week was submitted by Mr. Channing Tatum himself!!! :-D Last time we got a video from Chan, he was updating us from the set of 'G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra' in the Czech Republic. This time, he's taking us into the friendly skies, but (for some INSANE reason) chooses to ditch a perfectly good plane along the way...

Through military-themed projects like 'Stop-Loss' and 'Dear John', Channing has had the opportunity to meet and make friends with a lot of brave men and women in the armed forces. In this CTU exclusive video we get to see Chan fearlessly perform an AWESOME tandem parachute out of an airplane more than 10,000 feet up in the air and thankfully land safely at the Yuma Proving Ground (aka YPG) in Arizona, which is a test facility for the U.S. Army.

The video (which can be seen in high definition on the CTU Youtube Channel) was taken on February 23, 2009 and in it Chan and his Army instructor Mike jump with the Golden Knights, which is a well-known United States Army Parachute Team. Enjoy!

RUMOR CONTROL: The Truth About Channing Tatum and the 'Bodyguard' Remake with Rihanna

If you've read pretty much any entertainment news site today, then you've probably heard about the rumor that Channing Tatum may be starring with singer Rihanna in a remake of 1992's romantic drama 'The Bodyguard'. I have spoken with Chan's people and can unequivocally debunk the rumor.

Here's how it all started...

The New York Daily News reported this morning that singer Rihanna made a trip to New York this past weekend to have some meetings about a couple of potential projects. In addition to a possible role in the next 'Charlie's Angels' sequel, Rihanna would supposedly be starring in a remake of the Whitney Houston/Kevin Costner film, 'The Bodyguard', which had a hugely popular soundtrack that included Houston hits like "I Will Always Love You", "I Have Nothing" and "I'm Every Woman".

The article said that Rihanna would be taking on Whitney’s role in the updated version, which an insider says would be a “young and sexy take” on the film, and that Chan's name had also been thrown into the hat to take on Costner’s role.

Here's the truth...

I was a huge fan of both the film and the soundtrack back in the day, so it would have been cool to see Chan in this remake, but alas, that's not in the cards. For the record, the official word from Chan's (and Rihanna's) camp is that this report is not true at all, so you can file this one squarely in the RUMOR pile.

NEW FLASH: Channing Tatum's New Comic Book Released for 'G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra'

I wanted to let you all know that Channing Tatum's new 'G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra' comic book "Duke" was released on March 11th, and above, you can see the two different covers for the prequel comic that is now available at a comic book store near you.

It's a first in of a series of back-stories and secret dossiers on the main characters from the film. Before Channing's character Conrad Hauser was code-named "Duke" and was brought into the G.I. Joes, he was leading a special ops team. Fans should read the new comic to join him as he fights his way in and out of a jungle in a mission that goes wrong in every way possible.

All of the covers for the four prequels and an official adaptation of the film have been revealed. Below, you can see Channing Tatum as Duke, Christopher Eccleston as Destro, Sienna Miller as Baroness, Ray Park's Snake Eyes, and the G.I. Joe Official Movie Adaptation.

In some resent interviews we get to learn a little more about the film from Chan's co-star, Sienna Miller, and director, Stephen Sommers.

MTV interviewed Sienna (aka Baroness), Chan's rival and love-interest in the film, and here's what she had to say about working with him on 'G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra':

"He's great, he's fantastic, I can't think of anyone more perfect to play that part. He's a brilliant, brilliant actor and is physically big enough and strong enough. He's just the sweetest guy, just a Southern gent."

We also learn from her interview that Channing Tatum and Marlon Wayans are the Joes in the accelerator suits, defying the laws of nature, as they catapult over rockets and jump through a speeding bus in the action-packed trailer.

Based on an interview that director Stephen Sommers gave to GIJoeClub.com, we learn that the afore-mentioned accelerator suits were not very comfortable for the actors. So much so, we probably won't see too much more of them in the possible second and third installments of the film.

Here's what Stephen had to say when asked to describe some of the biggest challenges encountered during filming:

"We filmed in a lot of locations: the Arctic, Prague, the desert, Tokyo, Egypt, France and the bottom of the ocean. All of them were challenging. It would be rare to shoot anywhere that was not somewhat challenging. I think the most challenging to film in was Paris...The accelerator suits were very rough on the actors. They were not very mobile when worn. I think in any potential future films, you will see less of them."

'G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra' will hit theaters on August 7, 2009 and fans can CLICK HERE to get a current list of international release dates for the film. The next comic book prequel ("Destro") will hit shelves some time in May.

CTU NEWS: Join Channing Tatum Unwrapped's New Social Network and MORE!!!

Channing Tatum Unwrapped started out as just one blog, but has become so much more in the past two years. In addition to our official site, blog, Myspace, Facebook, Youtube Channel, Flickr Photo Gallery, and Twitter Feed, I have added two new sites to the CTU family and have made a few updates to a couple of the existing sites.

Here's what's new at CTU:

• NEW TUMBLR SITE:During the election, I learned about the social networking site Tumblr. If you are currently a member of the site, then you can now follow CTU on our new official Tumblr. The site is automatically updated each time I post news, photos, or videos on the CTU main site, photo gallery, and video channel.
  


• UPDATED TWITTER FEED: It's hard to believe, but approximately a month ago, we had less than 100 followers on Twitter. As I type this, we now have almost 1,200 fans and media outlets like Entertainment Weekly's Pop Watch and IMDB following Channing Tatum's official Twitter feed, and that number grows rapidly every day. In addition to news and photos, fans will now also receive a tweet when I add videos to our Youtube Channel, so it's a great way for fans to stay in the know.
  


• NEW 3D PHOTO WALL: On the homepage of CTU.com and at the top of the right sidebar on the blog, fans will find a new 3D Photo Wall where you can view our entire Flickr Photo Gallery. You can search and flip through all of the sets and then click on one to view the photos inside. The icons in the upper right corner of each set will allow you to view photos in the window or open the set in the gallery to see a larger version of the photos. At the very least, it's a fun gadget to play with, but it also allows fans to check out the photo gallery with out leaving CTU.
  


• NEW SOCIAL NETWORK: The biggest addition to the CTU family is our new social network CTU Connect. This FREE network is the only social networking site dedicated to Channing Tatum fans. Like on Myspace or Facebook, you can create a custom profile, upload and share unlimited photos, videos, and audio files, send mail, chat with friends, and write blogs and comments. Most importantly, you can make friends with other Channing Tatum fans all around the world!!!

CTU EXCLUSIVE: Details on Channing Tatum's Upcoming Appearance and Signing at The Fight Expo

As I reported last month, Channing Tatum and his 'Fighting' co-star Cung Le will be promoting the movie at "The Fight Expo" this month. 'Fighting' is actually sponsoring the event which is a two-day Mixed Martial Arts and Extreme Sports extravaganza that will be held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds on March 21-22, 2009.

I've been able to get some exclusive details about Chan's appearance that I can share with you all...

As I mentioned in my previous article, the event has chosen The Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego as its beneficiary with portions of proceeds from every ticket sold, charity auctions, and MMA seminars going to this worthwhile cause.

Channing's appearance with Cung Le will be on Saturday, March 21, 2009. I've been told that the Make-A-Wish children will be introduced to the general public at around 11:00 AM and will be presented with Honorary Fighter Shirts before they are asked questions about their favorite fighters and stars. The kids will then be introduced to some of the UFC fighters and will be given the opportunity to pretend like they are fighting in a movie.

At that point, Channing and Cung Le will come out to meet the kids and share with them what it's like to be in Hollywood movies. After being photographed and videoed by E! News and other media inside one of the fighting cages, Channing and Cung will then go to the Rogue Pictures booth to sign autographs for general attendees for approximately one hour. After the autograph signing, Chan will be interviewed by E! News, so hopefully we'll get to check him out on their show at some point after the event.

Channing Tatum fan and CTU reader Becca is planning on attending the event and has promised to share her fan encounter and send us any photos that she takes of Chan. I encourage any CTU readers who attend to do the same so I can share your stories and photos with Chan's fans around the world.

Thanks to the April 2009 issue of Vanity Fair Magazine, which is on US newsstands right now, we have an awesome new photo of Channing Tatum in the mag and some equally gorgeous outtakes via VanityFair.com.

I would like to point out that Channing was bestowed the honor of being the first male to ever be featured in the Vanities section of the magazine, which generally spotlights an up-and-coming actress in a 50s-style pinup shot. The magazine describes the Vanities as being on the cusp of fame or they have just hit it big; they have names you need to know and faces you won’t have trouble remembering.

CTU NEWS: And the Winners of the 'Battle in Seattle' DVD's Are...

In the DVD Out Now segment of last Saturday's "At the Movies," film critic Ben Lyons solidified his previous positive review of the film when it was released in theaters by choosing Channing Tatum's drama 'Battle in Seattle' as his DVD pick for the week.

The film was released on DVD and Blu-Ray today (March 10, 2009) and can now be found at your local retail stores. In addition to the DVD and Blu-Ray format, you can also watch the movie online via the Video On Demand service at Amazon.com.

Because of people close to me (CTU Webmaster Q) that have been or are currently affected, I choose to fight for a cure for Juvenile Diabetes and cancers of any kind, and I hope that a cure comes sooner rather than later for everyone that battles these diseases.

I also want to let you all know about a battle that Channing Tatum's 2009 Biggest Fan, Brandi, and her family fight every day. Brandi has a child who has been diagnosed with a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy called Limb Girdle.

It's a progressive disease with no cure or treatment other then physical therapy. Her son's name is Tristan, and he's been chosen as the Good Will Ambassador for a local Muscular Dystrophy Association Ride For Life bike run in their town.

If you would like to join Tristan and his family in their battle, you can go to his official MDA site to learn more about the ride and/or help him meet and hopefully exceed his team's goal. Every dollar they raise will go to help a child fight this disease in hopes that someday maybe there will be a cure, or at the very least a treatment, for Tristan and everyone battling the debilitating disease.

RUMOR OR REEL?: Is Channing Tatum in the Running to Play Thor?

It seems like every few months someone mentions Channing Tatum's name as a potential cast member of an upcoming action adventure (i.e. the Captain America casting rumor) and now the movie sites are buzzing with the news of another potential comic book hero role for the highly sought-after actor.

Movie site LatinoReview reported a rumor that actor Alexander Skarsgard (vampire Eric Northman in HBO’s “True Blood”) may be one of director Kenneth Branagh’s top choices to play the title role in his 2010 action adventure film 'Thor'. This rumor is solely based on the fact that Alex was recently seen having lunch with Branagh in Beverly Hills and the two share the same agency.

What does this have to do with Channing Tatum? Well, not be outdone by LatinoReview, movie site IESB.net added to the rumor mill by confirming that they too heard the same information from their sources AND let us know that Channing Tatum is also supposedly being considered for the part of Thor and that Josh Hartnett is campaigning for the role of the villain Loki, Thor’s adopted brother and principal foe.

All of this is purely speculation at this point, so if it's a comic book hero that you're looking for, Channing Tatum fans can get their fix when Chan's 'G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra' hits theaters on August 7, 2009.

Join the Channing Tatum Unwrapped 2009 Birthday Project

If you've been reading Channing Tatum Unwrapped for a while, then you know we always do something special for Chan's birthday each year.

Channing has proven to us time and time again that his fans are extremely important to him, so Channing Tatum Unwrapped wants to once again give you all the opportunity to give back to him on his birthday.

Did you miss your chance to be a part of 2007's fan mosaic that we sent Chan for his b-day? It's hands down the most popular project that we've had here at CTU. Two years later, fans are still asking me how they can be added to the photo, so I've decided it's time to do it again!!!

It's really easy. If you are a Channing Tatum Unwrapped Fan Club Member, have a camera, can take a picture of yourself, and can email the photo to me, than you can be a part of this year's birthday gift!!!

WHAT TO SUBMIT

OK so here's the plan...Using the pictures you send to us, CTU is going to create a photo mosaic using all of your pictures. A mosaic is a single photo that's made up of lots of other little photos. If you look at the picture from a distance, it will look like a photo of Channing, but when you get close to the picture, you will see a ton of little fan photos put together to create the one image.

To make this work, we need to get lots of pictures from all of you fans. So Channing can see your faces easily, please send us a head shot of yourself. I will have the mosaic created and then the photo will be used to make an extremely large birthday card that I will send to Chan for his birthday on April 26th.

HOW TO SUBMIT

You should email your photo to birthday@channingtatumunwrapped.com by April 15, 2009 so I have plenty of time to get the mosaic and card to Channing by his birthday. Please attach you're photo to the email, put "BIRTHDAY 2009" in the subject and include your fan club user name in the body of the email. You will receive an email from us confirming that we have received your submission.

I know that we all have a ton of Channing's pictures, but you will have the privilege of saying that he has a picture of you. As always, the mosaic and all of the photos I receive will also be posted in the Channing Tatum Unwrapped Photo Gallery.

AS SEEN ON TV: Watch Channing Tatum's 'She's the Man' on the UK's Channel 4 Tonight!!!

If you haven't seen Channing Tatum's only comedy to date or would like to see it again, I wanted to let all of his UK fans know that 'She's the Man' will be premiering tonight (Sunday, March 8, 2009) on Channel 4 at 9:00 pm (aka 21:00).

Here's what the movie is all about...

"A simple case of assumed identity snowballs into a romantic mix-up of epic proportions in director Andy Fickman's contemporary teen take on William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night.

Viola Hastings (Amanda Bynes) has good reason for wanting to conceal her identity upon arriving at Illyria Prep school, and with her twin brother Sebastian (James Kirk) skirting school in an attempt to break into the London music scene, Viola sees her sibling's well-timed absence as the perfect opportunity to assume his identity. When Viola is assigned a shared dorm room with campus cool guy Duke (Channing Tatum), her façade slowly begins to crumble as she begins harboring a deep-rooted crush on her unsuspecting new roommate.

The situation begins to take a turn for the worse, however, when Duke reveals his affection towards campus knockout Olivia (Laura Ramsey), who in turn seems increasingly drawn toward the sensitive imposter known as Sebastian. The problem is, the real Sebastian has decided to cut his London trip short, and upon arriving on campus two days earlier than expected, Viola's elaborately executed ruse hits an unexpected hitch that sends the entire situation spiraling into chaos."

The movie is based on the true story of the 1999 WTO protests in Seattle. 'Battle in Seattle' stars Martin Henderson, Michelle Rodriguez, Woody Harrelson, Charlize Theron, Andre Benjamin, Channing Tatum, Jennifer Carpenter, and Ray Liotta.

AS SEEN ON TV: Watch Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan's 'Step Up' on TNT Tonight!!

I want to let 'Step Up' fans know that Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan's 2006 dance hit will be debuting on TNT!! Fans can watch their characters Tyler Gage and Nora Clark fall in love all over again on the small screen starting tonight at 7pm Central and continuing through the remainder of March.

In case you haven't seen it, here's TNT's synopis of what the movie is all about...

"An aspiring ballerina from a wealthy family learns some lessons about both dancing and life from a roughneck with soul in this teen drama.

Tyler Gage (Channing Tatum) grew up on the wrong side of the tracks in a rough section of Baltimore, and has been in and out of trouble with the law most of his life. Finding himself before the judge yet again, Tyler is sentenced to 200 hours of community service, and he ends up mopping floors at the Maryland School of the Arts. Tyler catches the eye of Nora (Jenna Dewan), a gifted ballet student who is trying to incorporate hip-hop moves into her classical routines. None of Nora's fellow students seem to be on the same page as her, but Tyler is a talented street dancer with strength, moves, and enthusiasm.

Despite the misgivings of the school's administrators, Nora persuades Tyler to team up with her for a major class project. Tyler gains a new self-respect as he gives in to the discipline of the dance academy, but he wonders if this new opportunity means turning his back on who he really is. Matters become all the more complicated when Tyler and Nora realize they're falling in love."
