NEWS FLASH: 'Step Up 3D' Starts Filming TODAY with Newcomers & Old Favorites

Step Up 3-D Jon M. Chu Adam Sevani Alyson Stoner by Channing Tatum Unwrapped

Although I think there's, sadly, very little chance we'll be seeing Channing Tatum in the third installment of the ‘Step Up‘ franchise that he started with Jenna Dewan in 2006, I still continue to follow the progress of ‘Step Up 3D‘ and often get questions about the movie from fans.

As I previously posted, director Jon M. Chu and the production crew have been working hard for months to prepare for the 3D movie that's going to film on location in both New York City and Paris, France.

Jon has been tweeting about their progress onTwitter where he posted news about their long days scouting locations, how dance warriors/choreographers Hihat, Dave Scott, Rich & Tone, Jamal Sims have even more of his respect now, and his experience in a test shoot with 3D glasses are on his head. He even tweeted to let us know that they wrapped up the final day of rehearsals last Friday so they can start shooting principal photography today.

I also found the cute photo above with Jon and his adorable dog Monster (who looks quite at home in his own chair on set) with returning stars Alyson Stoner who reprises her role as Camille (aka Chan’s foster sister from ‘Step Up‘) and Adam Sevani who comes back in his role as Moose from ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘.

Here's a storyline that I found on one of the casting sites for the film that will start filming today in New York City...

'Step Up 3-D' PosterWhen the Maryland School of the Arts (MSA) goes to Paris for an international dance competition, one of the dancers - Moose - misses his flight back to Baltimore. He soon makes friends with an American away from home and a beautiful French sophisticate. They introduce Moose to the red-hot Parisan underground dance scene, and before long he is wowing the local dancers with his unique moves as they prepare for an underground dance competition. With time running out before the big event and their routine stolen by a rival crew, Moose turns to his loyal MSA crew in Baltimore for help. Can Moose, the MSA crew and the French crew pull together a new dance number at the last minute? And will it be good enough to beat the world's best street dancers?

In addition to veterans Adam and Alyson, the film also stars newcomers Sharni Vinson as Natalie, Rick Malambri as Luke, and Stephen Boss in the role of Jason.

Get the latest behind-the-scenes scoop strait from director Jon M. Chu by subscribing to his official Twitter and Youtube channel. Jon's already posted a pic from today's shoot on Twitter.

Step Up 3-D‘ is set to hit an IMAX theater near you on August 6, 2010.

NEWS FLASH: Early Screening Held for Channing Tatum's 'Dear John'

Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried in 'Dear John'

Way before a movie ever comes out, the film is shown at various early test screenings so the movie studios can get feedback and try to tweak the film, if needed. This kind of test screening was held for Channing Tatum's highly-anticipated 2010 drama 'Dear John' a few weeks ago at a theater in California. Here's what the excited screener had to say about the film...

"Well last week I got to see a screening for the movie! I was so excited to see it. I'm not sure how much I can say but I LOVED it! I have not read the book, but I want to now. I laughed and cried. I thought Amanda was EXCELLENT. So was Richard Jenkins. Channing was great too, and Amanda and him had some great chemistry!...Young Alan was fantastic!...He was sooo cute! I'm trying to remember how many scenes he was in, had to have been a few different ones. The Beach scene where we are first introduced to Alan, and the Truck scene when Tim and Alan give John a ride home were the ones that stand out the most to me. Channing Tatum, Actor Braeden Reed, and Director Lasse Hallstrom on the Set of 'Dear John'The truck scene was hilarious with the 3 of them. Whatever scene young Alan was in he pretty much stole the scene...I remember a horse scene with young Alan and Amanda at her parents place. I believe Savannah talks about how it was Alan's first time on a horse, and Savannah talks about "horse sense" and her theory about that, and how she wants to open a riding camp. I hope they keep it in the final version as well, because I think the version of the film they showed us, they said it was a "rough" version, but I hope that was more in regards to the special effects and the music than anything else... I'm not sure if they will edit it anymore from the version I saw but they said the music was not 100% and that some special effects weren't done, but I didn't really notice. It looked and sounded great to me. I can't wait until it comes out!"

This movie, which CTU readers voted as their most-anticipated upcoming Channing Tatum film, is adapted from the Nicholas Sparks novel Dear John, and it follows the love story between an idealistic college student and enlisted American soldier.

The film stars Channing Tatum as John Tyree, Amanda Seyfried as Savannah Lynn Curtis and has a strong supporting cast that includes Richard Jenkins, Henry Thomas, Scott Porter, Leslea Fisher, Keith Robinson, and Cullen Moss. 'Dear John' is also directed by two-time Oscar nominated director, Lasse Hallstrom.

Although the film is going to be released in many countries around the world, we now know when the film is going to hit the theaters in the US, Russia, Norway, and the Netherlands. Here are the current release dates that can also be found on the CTU Calendar:
  • United States: February 5, 2010

  • Russia: February 14, 2010

  • Netherlands: February 18, 2010

  • Norway: March 5, 2010

IN THE PRESS: Check Out Channing Tatum in People’s 2009 Most Beautiful Issue

Channing Tatum Makes People's 2009 Most Beautiful Issue

As I previously posted, Channing Tatum is featured in People's annual "100 Most Beautiful" issue, which hits newsstands across the country TODAY. In addition to getting a mention in the magazine (which you can see in the graphic above), Chan was also featured in an article on their website yesterday with a photo of him in New York City where he was promoting his newest film 'Fighting'. You can read some of the article below...

Channing Tatum in New York CityChanning Tatum: I'm a Cheeseburgers and Beer Guy

Channing Tatum may have one of the best bodies in Hollywood. But when he isn't working, he's a regular guy with a taste for "beer and cheeseburgers."

"Life is too short to miss out on the beautiful things like a double cheeseburger," says Tatum, 29, who made PEOPLE's list of the World's Most Beautiful People.

And while Tatum knows how to throw a mean punch, the Fighting star still hasn't quite figure out the whole sex symbol thing.

"It's about as flattering as it gets," he says. "I just never know how to deal with it, I never know what to say. I'm just really humbled by it."

The actor has a blockbuster summer ahead, starring in Public Enemies with Johnny Depp and Christian Bale in July, and G.I. Joe in August..."

Congrats again to Chan for securing a highly-coveted spot in this year's Most Beautiful issue!!! Although I think this may be his first appearance on the list, I'm willing to bet the farm that it won't be his last.
