Vote for Channing Tatum in the 2009 Teen Choice Awards

It's that time again my fellow Channaholics!!! They just announced the 2009 Teen Choice Awards nominees this morning, and Channing Tatum has been nominated for "Choice Movie Actor: Drama" again, but this time it's for his film 'Fighting'.

Last year, you all helped Chan win this exact category with his role in 'Stop-Loss' and now, we all need to band together once again to help Channing win his category for this year's awards.

The Show

Teen Choice 2009 will celebrate the hottest teen icons in film, television, music, sports and fashion in the choicest, star-studded two-hour event airing Monday, Aug. 10 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX, and the ever popular Jonas Brothers are set to host this year's event.

The Voting

Starting today, fans ages 13-19 can vote for their favorite Teen Choice 2009 nominees at www.teenchoiceawards.com. When you vote, you can make only one choice per category, per day, per email address, but you can vote EVERY DAY, so make sure to do so. ;-D Also, they do not require you to vote for every category for your vote to count, and Channing's category is located in the Movies section on the first page of voting.

The Lineup

As you see in the graphic above, Chan is currently competing against Hugh Jackman (“Australia”), Dev Patel (“Slumdog Millionaire”), Robert Pattinson (“Twilight”) and Brad Pitt (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”). The Mission

NEWS FLASH: Official Website Update, Premiere Info, and New TV Spot for Channing Tatum's 'Public Enemies'

Universal Studios has updated the official website for Channing Tatum's next film 'Public Enemies'. You'll find new downloads, video clips, photos, character information, and more on the site, so make sure to check it out!

In the graphic above, you see the first official photo of Chan as 1930's gangster Pretty Boy Floyd who never wore a mask, was dapper and polite, and reveled in his reputation as a gentleman thief. Floyd became a bank robber to escape his dirt-poor upbringing among the cotton-pickers of Oklahoma (robbing at least 30 banks and murdering 10 men in the process). Legend has it he handed out the proceeds of his crimes to poverty-stricken homesteaders.

Here's what the PE official website has to saw about Chan's character...

"Charles "Pretty Boy" Floyd was twenty-one when he was arrested in 1925 for robbing a payroll shipment in St. Louis. He was sentenced to five years in prison, emerging determined to avoid future jail time. He descended into the St. Louis crime world, developing a gang with a penchant for robbing banks. The Floyd Gang quickly became a Bureau (later the FBI) target, particularly after the "Kansas City Massacre." This attempt to wrest a fellow gang member from custody became a bloody shoot-out which left a Special Agent and a police chief dead. After two more bloody shoot-outs that year, Floyd was finally taken down on October 22, 1934 by Melvin Purvis of the Bureau."

In addition to a Los Angeles premiere Tuesday, June 23rd at Mann's Village Theatre at 961 Broxton Avenue in Westwood Village, the movie is also going to have a red carpet premiere in London Monday, June 29th at Empire Cinema on the north side of Leicester Square and Paris Thursday, July 2nd at 8pm at UGC Normandie. Johnny Depp, Marion Cotillard, and acclaimed film director Michael Mann are scheduled to attend all of the premieres.

'Public Enemies' hits US theaters on July 1, 2009 and was originally scheduled to be released in the UK on July 3. I am now seeing release information HERE and HERE that implies the release date may have been moved up to July 1st for the UK, so be on the lookout for the film.

'Step Up 3D' News, Casting Call, and Set Photos from Director Jon M. Chu

We've been getting a lot of visitors to CTU lately looking for info on ‘Step Up 3D‘. Although I think there's very little chance (pretty much 0%) that Channing Tatum will be in the third installment of the ‘Step Up‘ franchise that he started with Jenna Dewan in 2006, I still follow the progress of ‘Step Up 3D‘ as it films in New York City (and Paris later in the year) via the official Twitter of director Jon M. Chu.

The movie will be filming in New York through July and is holding an extras casting call today as I type this post. I just learned that Comer & Gallucio Casting has organized the casting call, and they are looking for all types and ethnicities ages 18 and over. Some specific types they are looking for include the following...

• People who can portray hip hop types


• People who know how to tango and/or have hip hop dance experience


• People with tattoos, visible piercings, funky hairstyles, hipster types, skateboarders, old school roller skaters, 18-24 year olds, college students, and more!

As I previously mentioned, the casting call is today (Saturday, June 13th). SAG members were seen from 9:30am - 10:30am (Compensation: $130.00/8hrs) and non union extras will be seen from 11:00am - 4:30pm (Compensation: $80.00/10hrs) at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle on Columbus Avenue at 60th Street in New York City. You should come dressed to be photographed.

FAN ENCOUNTER: Channing Tatum with Extras/Fans on the Set of 'Dear John'

Earlier this week, I posted some new photos of Chan with fans that were able to get pictures with him after filming wrapped on the South Carolina set of his upcoming drama 'Dear John'.

In today's Fab Fan Encounter we have two exclusive new photos that were submitted by Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan Kira this week. They show Channing Tatum taking pictures with Kira and here two friends when they were extras on the 'Dear John' set. Here's what Kira had to say about their lucky fan encounter...

"My friends Amanda and Colleen were extras with me during the filming of 'Dear John'. We live in Charleston and were thrilled to be a part of the movie and get the chance to meet and talk to Channing. He was so friendly and made the experience one we will truly never forget! These were taken on our last day of filming on Folly Beach." - Kira

'Dear John' is scheduled for a February 5, 2010 release in the US, but you can find more international release dates on the CTU Calendar.

QUOTES OF THE WEEK: Channing Tatum on Landing Serious Roles & Jenna Dewan on Embarrassing Love Scenes

In a recent interview, Channing Tatum sheds some light on how difficult it can be to land serious roles because his athletic appearance seems to fit the action movie mold. Chan, who is currently on the lookout for the perfect role to help him shed his action hero image, said...

"I don't get offered the lawyer roles because I've got a thick neck from playing football. Because I can run and jump and look more like a soldier or a football player than some people, those types of roles come more easily in my direction. I really have to fight for the gritty dark roles and I have to prove myself - I have to go in and audition just like everybody else...There's not a lot out there right now that's great. But thankfully I've got enough to pay my bills for a while. When that goes down I'll start freaking out then."

Chan's fiancee Jenna Dewan was recently interviewed by FOX at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards. She shared her "embarrassing" attempt to film love scenes...

"Embarrassing is when you get the giddy laughing fit at like 3 a.m. and they're on a budget and a time limit and they're looking at you like, ‘Jenna get it together!’...It’s really embarrassing, often I literally can't stop laughing."

...what she feels is her sexiest time of the day, and what she enjoys doing in her free time with Chan...

"I feel sexiest at night just after a bath when I’m about to go to bed -- something about that hour of the day... Channing and I are also big fans of lounging around, hiking and we have a lot of barbecues. We just like to chill and do nothing."

NEWS FLASH: New TV Spots, Featurette, and Film Festival for Channing Tatum's 'Public Enemies'

Channing Tatum's upcoming historical drama 'Public Enemies' is gearing up for it's July 1, 2009 theatrical release, so I now have a couple more TV Spots ("Resist" and "Face-to-Face") and a new John Dillinger featurette to share with you all. The Universal Studios film is directed by Michael Mann and boasts a stunning cast that includes Channing Tatum, Johnny Depp, Marion Cotillard, Christian Bale, Branka Katic, Billy Crudup, Giovanni Ribisi, Emilie de Ravin, John Michael Bolger, Stephen Dorff, Christian Stolte and Leelee Sobieski.

Although it's a small role, Channing Tatum plays the iconic criminal Pretty Boy Floyd in 'Public Enemies' and introduces Christian Bales' character (FBI agent Melvin Purvis) to the moviegoers.

In addition to being screened early at the Los Angeles Film Festival and various other locations in the mid-west where it was filmed, 'Public Enemies' is also going to be screened at the 31st Moscow International Film Festival. The movie will close out the festival, and director Michael Mann is expected to attend the screening.

For UK fans, Universal will launch a film campaign on Sky's new green button service on June 17th. Green-button advertising allows brands to offer additional content lasting up to two hours. TV viewers can press the green button on their Sky remote to book longer-form content into their Sky Guide or to record it via their Sky+ box. They are then prompted by an on-screen reminder when a selected ad becomes available; recorded content can be watched at any time.

NEWS FLASH: Watch Jenna Dewan's 'Falling Awake' at the Brooklyn International Film Festival

I'm just learning that Jenna Dewan's new dramatic film 'Falling Awake', which was previously called 'Shine On', screened at the Boston International Film Festival on April 24th, the same day that Channing Tatum's film 'Fighting' hit theaters.

Even though fans may have missed that screening, you'll have another opportunity to see the film at the 2009 Brooklyn International Film Festival this weekend and in limited release in theaters later this year.

Here's the synopsis for the film...

"'Falling Awake' is the powerful story of Jay (Andrew Cisneros), a young man struggling to find his identity in The Bronx in a house crowded with family members and a neighborhood filled with loyal friends and dangerous enemies. A gifted musician, Jay hopes to leave it all and pursue his dream of composing and performing music. Once he meets Alessandra (Jenna Dewan), a beautiful young woman who lives in Brooklyn, his determination to defy the expectations of his frustrated, angry father become even stronger.

Jay is tied to his home through loyalty to his friends and to his brother, who has returned unexpectedly from service in the Marines. As he reaches toward a wider world, he is pulled back over and over by the cycles of anger and violence that have defined his life and neighborhood for so long. It takes love, a change of heart and a new understanding of life's elusive chance at happiness to finally help Jay make the long, uncertain leap to a fresh chance."

The movie also features original music by Kevin Stuart and Andrew Cisnero.

Do You Want Channing Tatum to Join the 'Twilight' Series?

On the heels of reports that 'Eclipse' (the third film on the Twilight series) has begun casting, two very determined Channing Tatum fans have started a petition to try to get Chan cast in one of the roles and have asked me to let you all know about it.

As I previously reported, 'Twilight', 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon', and 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' screen writer Melissa Rosenberg recently told E! News that she wanted Chan to play the role of the vampire Riley in 'Eclipse'. All proverbial heck broke loose in the Twilight community as fans rushed to agree with Melissa's choice.

In the casting announcement, Riley is described as "a handsome, blond, clean-cut college boy who falls victim to Victoria". He's in his early to mid 20s and "plays an integral role in Victoria's attempt to murder Bella Swan."
