VIDEO OF THE WEEK: Channing Tatum in ‘The Trap’

Today's Video of the Week is Channing Tatum's 2007 movie 'The Trap'. The film was created for the 2007 Glamour Reel Moments short film series, was directed by Tom Hanks’ wife Rita Wilson, and stars Jeanne Tripplehorn, Aisha Tyler, Camilla Belle, Gia Carides, Johanna Day, and Greg Butler.

It tells the story of a middle-aged woman named Maggie (played by Jeanne Tripplehorn) stuck in a rut and afraid to take risks, until one day, she does. Maggie’s journey of self-discovery begins with a shaky start when she pulls up to an address in a seedy part of town. But after an unforgettable night of opening up to unexpected possibilities, her life will never be the same again.

Ironically, the DVD for this movie released via Clinique makeup counters when I visited Chan on the New York set of his film 'Fighting'. He hadn't seen it yet, and I had just picked up my copy the day before, so he watched it on his laptop in the set trailer. My claim to fame is that I showed him his own movie for the very first time. I know. I'm completely lame, but it was still pretty cool.

Without further ado, 'The Trap'...

Glamour Reel Moments is an award-winning short film series inspired by essays written by Glamour magazine’s readers, who dramatized their real-life moments. The goal of Glamour Reel Moments is to create new opportunities for women to get behind the camera and direct a short film for the first time.

The 2007 series included short films by first-time directors Rita Wilson, Kirsten Dunst, and Kate Hudson, and in addition to Channing Tatum, stars top talent such as Jeanne Tripplehorn, Winona Ryder, Chevy Chase, Dakota Fanning, Virginia Madsen, and Kurt Russell.

Thanks to @JolindaDanielle for asking about the film, thus giving me the idea for this post!

REMINDER: Watch Channing Tatum in his Newest Film 'The Trap' at Clinique.com

This weekend (with the help of my best friend of more than 21 years and the initial reason for my current trip to New York) I was able to get a couple of copies of Channing Tatum's new movie 'The Trap' where he plays a trapeze instructor named Greg that helps the main character of the short film quickly get over her deep fears of using the flying apparatus.

I needed my best friend Lis's help, because you had to get a free consultation on October 13th or 14th at the Clinique makeup counter in order to get a copy of the free DVD.

Thankfully, her free consultation allowed me to get a second copy of the movie, so soon I will be giving away the DVD to one lucky CTU reader. I'll let you know when that contest starts.

Luckily, you really don't need the DVD to watch Chan's newest movie, because fans around the world will be able to check out Channing in 'The Trap' at Clinique.com starting Monday October 15, 2007.

When you watch the movie, pay close attention to the male performing on the trapeze and then Chan's speaking part shows up in the latter part of the movie. CLICK HERE to watch Channing's new short film 'The Trap'!!!

CTU NEWS: Win a Magazine Personally Autographed by Channing Tatum!!!

Being Channing Tatum's official site definitely has its privileges! Thanks to Chan and his mom Kay, I now have 8 magazines personally autographed by Channing in my possession and done exclusively for his official site, Channing Tatum Unwrapped. So I am excited to say that I can now start giving the issues away to lucky CTU readers!

I sent Chan a total of 8 magazines with articles about him in them (which included issues of People, GQ, Vanity Fair, VMan, Interview, and Esquire) less than two weeks ago. Even though he is extremely busy filming his latest movie 'Fighting' in New York, he very quickly completed his signing task and got the magazines right back to me. I really would like to thank Chan for that!

Below you can see the message that Chan left for me in the October 2007 issue of Esquire magazine. Needless to say, you would have to pry that issue out of my cold, dead hands, but lucky for you all I have 7 other awesome magazine issues that I will be giving away to readers over the next few months. :-D

I have decided that one of the magazines is going to Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan and avid CTU reader Naz from London, England. Naz was chosen to receive a signed magazine, because she recently volunteered to help with a big project that Channing Tatum Unwrapped has coming up soon, and she is also extremely involved in the CTU community on a daily basis. Congrats, Naz! Thank you again for volunteering your time!

For the rest of the CTU readers, I want to announce the first autographed magazine give-away contest...

To celebrate the release of Channing Tatum's latest movie 'The Trap' (which has its premiere today at the Director's Guild Theater in Los Angeles, California), I want to give away the following autographed magazine. Notice the cute note that Chan took time to write on the article in addition to signing his autograph:

October 23, 2006 Issue of People Magazine

As I said before, Chan's movie 'The Trap' will premiere today. The Rita Wilson directed film, will be available for a limited time at Clinique counters all over the US October 13 and 14 (this Saturday and Sunday). For Channing's many US and international fans, the film can also be seen on GlamourReelMoments.com and Clinique.com beginning October 15.

If you would like to win the autographed magazine shown above, please send an email with your full name and mailing address to contests@channingtatumunwrapped.com on or before October 14, 2007. Your mailing address will only be used for the purpose of shipping the magazine to you. Your address will not be given to anyone or used for any other purposes.

I will do a random drawing and will announce the winner on the blog on Monday October 15, 2007.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!

It was announced via a press release today from Glamour Magazine that Channing Tatum's new short film 'The Trap' will premiere in Los Angeles on October 9 at the Director's Guild Theater.

The Rita Wilson directed film, will be available for a limited time at Clinique counters nationwide October 13 and 14. The film can be seen on Glamour.com and Clinique.com beginning October 15.

Glamour Reel Moments 'Happy' to Help A-List Women in Hollywood Get Behind the Camera

Rita Wilson, Kirsten Dunst and Kate Hudson Make Directorial Debuts For Glamour's Short Film Series, Presented by Clinique, That Promotes Women in Film

NEW YORK, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- GLAMOUR Vice President and Publisher
Bill Wackermann has announced Glamour Reel Moments premieres this fall in a
new and powerful incarnation. The films originate from Glamour readers'
real stories and feature leading Hollywood actresses directing films for
the first time. Glamour has hired Freestyle to develop and produce the
films. The series includes three short films presented by Clinique to be
released in October 2007.

The films were shot in Los Angeles this summer and the talent involved
is among the top of Hollywood's A-list. Kate Hudson, Kirsten Dunst, and
Rita Wilson, have directed shorts for Glamour Reel Moments, and the films
star Kurt Russell, Dakota Fanning, Virginia Madsen, Chevy Chase, Kristen
Stewart, Winona Ryder, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Aisha Tyler, Camilla Belle,
Channing Tatum.

In a contest that appeared in the January 2007 issue, Glamour readers
were asked to write a short essay of 750 words or less, about an important
event, encounter or moment in their lives when something made them
victorious, empowered and happy. Three winners' stories have been chosen
and Glamour has partnered with Clinique to script, produce and screen the
three short films. The theme of this year's project is happiness,
celebrating Clinique's Happy fragrance, and the films all feature happiness
as a part of the storyline.

"Clinique Happy was scientifically tested to inspire happiness," says
Executive Director of Global Marketing for Clinique, Catherine Frieder.

"Like the fragrance, Glamour Reel Moments also creates happiness with
stories by, for and about women. These films remind us why we should feel
good and be Happy."

The films will premiere in Los Angeles on October 9 at the Director's
Guild Theater. Rita Wilson's film, "The Trap," will be available for a
limited time at Clinique counters nationwide October 13 and 14. All three
films can be seen on glamour.com and clinique.com beginning October 15.
This year, Glamour is expanding the project with two new efforts to
further encourage female directors and stories about women in the film
industry. The first is a Reel Moments filmmaking grant which will give one
female recipient in the industry the opportunity to make a directorial
debut along with the high-profile women involved in the project.
Additionally, Glamour is launching a Reel Moments summit which will reunite
alumni of the project and notable women in the industry to discuss topics
for women in film and identify the important stories about women that
should be told on the big screen.

"Glamour Reel Moments is continuing its mission to tell real women's
stories in Hollywood and promote women in film," says Wackermann. "By
creating first-time opportunities for women to get behind the camera, not
just in front of it, Glamour Reel Moments is increasing the number of
female directors in Hollywood," he added.

Glamour Reel Moments has established a genuine community of women in
Hollywood and increased the number of female directors, currently only 7%.
Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Bryce Dallas Howard and Trudie Styler
have all made directorial debuts for Glamour Reel Moments which has
breached the gates of over 25 film festivals including Berlin and Toronto.
Oprah devoted an entire show to discuss the project's positive impact for
women in film.

NEWS FLASH: Channing Tatum's New Indie Film "The Trap" with Rita Wilson and Glamour Magazine

Since Lindsay Lohan has completed her extended program and has officially checked herself out of rehab as of today, that means that Channing Tatum's project 'Poor Things' will hopefully be able to to start filming soon.

Sadly, there's one big problem...it will probably start filming without Channing Tatum (as I have mentioned numerous times on this blog).

A CTU reader posted a message on the blog today saying that they have a relative on the 'Poor Things' production team and they "confirmed" that Channing did have to turn down the role and it has been recast. :-(

As soon as I can get official confirmation on this, I will let you all know. If this is true, I hope for 'Poor Things' and their investors that their decision to postpone was well worth the loss in talent and draw that Channing would have brought to the film. And I'll leave it at that (for now).

But don't fret Channing fans, it seems that he has yet another project in the works this summer. Variety.com posted the following article about Channing's involvement in a new indie movie directed by actress and first time director Rita Wilson (Tom Hanks's wife for those who don't know).

It seems that the film is a part of an annual competition that Glamour Magazine has with it's readers. In January, readers wrote essays about a true event in their life, the magazine selected a handful of those essays and had three first-time women directors pick from the group of essays. All of the films are supposed to be made on a small budget in only three days this summer. Rita Wilson's film is called 'The Trap' and Channing was chosen as one of the main actors in the small production. As the article below says, the film was created with director of photography Don Burgess at a landmark movie house in downtown L.A..

You can read the article to learn more about the cool project and about how we all will hopefully be able to see it in the next few months. Because of the innovative ways that they are planning on distributing these films, I am excited about the prospect that Channing's fans around the world will be able to see this new movie. Read on to learn more...

Stars Take Glamour Shots

Magazine's directors ready for closeups

By ANNE THOMPSON

This summer, production begins in Los Angeles on Glamour magazine's third series of Reel Moments, three short films directed by Hollywood insiders.

The shorts from 2007's rookie directors, Kirsten Dunst, Kate Hudson and Rita Wilson, are based on true stories submitted by Glamour readers.

Past first-timers include Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, Bryce Dallas Howard and writer Talia Lugacy, whose popular "Little Black Dress" yielded a directing gig on the upcoming revenge thriller "The Descent," starring Rosario Dawson.

In a contest in Glamour's January issue, the magazine asked readers to submit essays of 750 words or less about an event in their lives that made them feel strong, wise or happy. After Glamour culled thousands of entries down to hundreds, Dunst, Hudson and Wilson each picked one story to adapt and shoot in L.A. with a mid-six-figure budget in just three days: no reshoots.

Hudson starts filming in several weeks in Altadena. The '70s-period father-daughter story stars Kurt Russell opposite Dakota Fanning, comedian Kevin Hart and Chevy Chase. "I'll get my brothers out there stopping traffic," said Hudson, who has always enjoyed writing. "Directing is something I always thought I'd do, but not in this way."

Wilson heard about the series from Trudie Styler, whose short "Wait," debuted in 2005. Aniston, who shot her film "Room 10" last year, offered support through the process, said Wilson, who has already filmed "The Trap" with director of photography Don Burgess at a landmark movie house in downtown L.A. "I called in some favors," said the actress, who also took input from husband Tom Hanks. "It's a story about someone getting in touch with who she is." Jeanne Tripplehorn, Aisha Tyler, Camilla Bell and Channing Tatum star.

Dunst will shoot her short in August.

This year, Glamour will invite aspiring women filmmakers to apply for a filmmaking grant, said Glamour vice president and publisher Bill Wackermann. A committee of Glamour's short film alumnae will select the winner, who will be announced at the October 9 L.A. premiere of the 2007 shorts, which are presented by Clinique.

The shorts will also debut at theaters in the hometowns of the winning Glamour essayists and will be available for streaming at glamour.com and clinique.com. DVDs of the individual shorts will be distributed in 2,300 Clinique stores. They will eventually be available for download at iTunes, whose customers have watched the first-season shorts some 700,000 times.

Glamour is also organizing the first Reel Moments Summit in the L.A. area in January, which will bring together series alumnae with other Hollywood women to discuss the state of women in film and what stories should be told. " 'Transformers' is not the story," said Wackermann. "These are inspiring stories for women. I hope popular culture will continue to pick up the message of these films."

Thanks to their star power, Reel Moments shorts have grabbed gobs of media attention for Glamour, which boasts a circulation of 2.5 million. Paltrow's "Dealbreaker" screened at the Sundance Film Festival; altogether, the shorts have played 25 festivals. The song that Styler's husband, Sting, performed in her short, "Wait," won a Grammy. Oprah Winfrey devoted an entire show to the project's positive impact on women in film.

Wackermann came up with the Reel Moments concept 3 ½ years ago with associate publisher Leslee Russo. "We knew what our message about empowering women looks like inside the magazine," he said. "What would it look like outside? We took real readers and made films about real women. And we asked A-list actresses to be part of it. After Gwyneth Paltrow, other actresses heard about it. There's a community of women in Hollywood."

Freestyle's Francesca Silvestri has produced the shorts from the series' inception.
