Channing Tatum vs. Shia LaBeouf: Whom Would You Date?

PEOPLE Magazine's annual Hottest Bachelors issue hits newsstands tomorrow. We'll know if Channing Tatum made this year's magazine then, but in the mean time, PEOPLE has featured him and his 'A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints' co-star Shia Labeouf on their website in a "Whom would you date?" face-off between the two rising stars. I'm not even going to insult you all and make you answer this one.

NEWS FLASH: Channing Tatum's 'G.I. Joe' Holds Wrap Party at Prague's Dancing House

Since Channing Tatum mentioned in the video he sent us recently that his movie 'G.I. Joe' would be done filming very soon in the Czech Republic city of Prague, a CTU reader asked me today if he was back home yet, and the answer to that is YES!!!

After being gone for approximately five weeks to film his Pretty Boy Floyd role in Johnny Depp's 'Public Enemies' in Madison, Wisconsin and his Duke Hauser role in 'G.I. Joe' in Prague, Channing Tatum was spotted in California arriving at Los Angeles Airport this past Saturday (June 14, 2008) and is finally back home. Channing wasn't able to answer any questions regarding his upcoming movie 'G.I. Joe' for the inquiring reporters. He just said "It is Top Secret," and that he enjoyed working on the film.

When they asked if he was flattered by the fact that many people are comparing him to Brad Pitt, Channing shyly told reporters that Brad was "Way Bigger than Me, way Bigger". And my reply to that is...Just give it time Mr. Tatum. Just give it time. (Thanks Cal for the scoop!)

We also have some details on where Channing was right before he headed back home...

The extremely interesting building you see on this post is the famed Prague Dancing House. What does that have to do with Channing Tatum? Well, the deck of the Dancing House recently played host to the 'G.I. Joe' film production wrap party.

DJ THC Electra posted on his music blog today that the film had an "all night blow out bonanza" where he, DJ Siroko, and DJ House C played from 8pm to 5am and everyone had a blast.

Here is what Wikipedia has to say about the famous location:

"The Dancing House (Czech: Tančící dům) is the nickname given to an office building in downtown Prague. It was designed by Croatian-born Czech architect Vlado Milunić in co-operation with Canadian architect Frank Gehry on a vacant riverfront plot (where the previous building had been destroyed during the Bombing of Prague in 1945). The construction started in 1994 and was finished in 1996.

The very non-traditional design was controversial at the time. Czech president Václav Havel, who lived for decades next to the site, had supported it, hoping that the building would become a center of cultural activity.

Originally named Fred and Ginger (after Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers - the house vaguely resembles a pair of dancers) the house stands out among the Neo-Baroque, Neo-Gothic and Art Nouveau buildings for which Prague is famous.

On the roof is a French restaurant with magnificent views of the city. The building's other tenants include several multinational firms."

We can't all be in Prague, but thanks to the internet, you can pretend by taking a look at the gorgeous 360 panaramic view from the roof of the Dancing House.

Vote for Channing Tatum, 'Step Up 2', and 'Stop-Loss' at 2008 Teen Choice Awards!!!

It's that time again my fellow Channaholics!!! They just announced the 2008 Teen Choice Awards nominees this morning, and Channing Tatum, Ryan Phillippe, Briana Evigan, 'Step Up 2: The Streets', and 'Stop-Loss' have all been nominated for awards this year.

Channing's on a roll...This past week he was voted the #3 Hottest Young Actor by The Movie Fanatic's readers. Just a few months ago all of Chan's fabulous fans here at CTU helped him win the coveted Hottest Man Alive designation. Last year we helped Channing, Jenna Dewan, and their dance hit ‘Step Up’ win a 2007 Teen Choice Award for Choice Movie Dance, and Chan even sent us all a personal thank you message for all of our hard work.

Now, we all need to band together once again to help Channing and his co-stars win their categories for this year's awards.


The Show

M&M Cru with a U leader and teen sensation Miley Cyrus is set to host the awards show which is scheduled to air all around the world Monday, Aug. 4 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. The 10th annual special will celebrate the hottest teen icons in film, television, music, comedy, sports and fashion.

Channing Tatum has a very close knit family and his dad Glenn has been there from day one to support him both personally and professionally. I want to wish a big HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to Chan's dad Glenn and to all of the great father's out there. Everyone should make sure to celebrate the dads in your life today.

NEWS FLASH: 'Step Up 2' and Special Edition 'Step Up' DVD's Bundled Together for July 2008 UK Release

Here's the cover for the UK Region 2 DVD for Channing Tatum, Robert Hoffman, and Briana Evigan's worldwide dance hit 'Step Up 2: The Streets'.

Universal Pictures just announced that the UK DVD will actually be released one day before the Region 1 DVD in the US. UK fans can buy the new DVD on July 14, 2008, and it's retailing for £19.99.

And to make up for the fact that the UK Region 2 DVD release of Chan's 2006 movie 'Step Up' did not include the extras we had on the US version for some reason, Universal has decided to re-release the movie with all of the goodies in a Special Edition bundle with the sequel.

The 'Step Up' / 'Step Up 2 The Streets' Double the Dance box-set will retail for £24.99, and the special edition content on the first film includes the following:

Here's a blast from the past that I think you all will enjoy. Like 'Step Up', I've watched this interview tons of times, and I love it every single time! Oddly enough, it's one of the few interviews that Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan did together when they were promoting 'Step Up'.

It's their appearance on CBS's The Early Show with co-anchor Rene Syler where they treated the audience by showing them some of their signature moves and gave Syler a short dance lesson on the ever-popular B-More Bounce.

NEWS FLASH: New Interview with Jenna Dewan for Upcoming Film 'The Jerk Theory'

As I have been reporting for a while now, ‘Step Up’ co-stars Jenna Dewan (Channing Tatum’s real-life girlfriend) and Josh Henderson (Desperate Housewives) will reunite on-screen in the new romantic comedy ‘The Jerk Theory’. I even posted photos HERE and HERE of Channing Tatum when he visited Jenna on the Utah set last year during filming.

The teen comedy is about an aspiring recording artist named Adam (Josh Henderson). When he is burned by a bad relationship experience, he decides that if women won’t respond to the “nice guy”, then he’ll be “the jerk.” He is extremely successful with meaningless relationships, but when Adam meets and falls for Molly (Jenna Dewan), who doesn’t fall for his jerk routine, Adam is forced to reconsider his dating philosophy.

The PolarStar Entertainment film was produced and written by Abraham Taylor , and directed by Scott S. Anderson. Abraham recently contacted me and sent me a new interview to share with you all that Jenna did for the film. Fans can watch the new video below to learn more about ‘The Jerk Theory’:

REMINDER: Channing Tatum's 'Stop-Loss' Premieres in Belgium and Releases New Wallpapers

I wanted to remind all of Channing Tatum's Fabulous Fans in Belgium that his drama 'Stop-Loss' just premiered in your country!!!

NEWS FLASH: Channing Tatum's 'G.I. Joe' Showcased at 2008 Licensing International Expo

The above photo is a ground-to-ceiling-sized G.I. Joe presentation that flanked one wall of Hasbro's booth at the recent New York-based 2008 Licensing International Expo for Toymakers, Manufacturers and Retailers. It was taken by one of the attendees of the event.

As I had previously posted, major licensing deals have already been signed and many more are underway to bring fans a wide selection of “everything G.I. JOE.” Licensees (aka companies that get permission from Hasbro to make G.I Joe themed items) will bring a number of goods to market including graphic t-shirts, boys apparel, footwear, video games, electronics, children’s books, paper goods, room décor, social expressions, bikes, skateboards, and camping and fishing gear.

From what I've read, Hasbro plans to release the movie line of action figures and their accessories some time in 2009, but I still have my fingers crossed that they may make an earlier appearance.

As Channing Tatum mentioned in his exclusive video message to us, the live action film is in its last week of filming at Barrandov Studios in Prague, Czech Republic. He also said that 'G.I. Joe' is a big "popcorn" kind of movie, and we've heard others refer to it as a "tent pole" film, so I thought I would explain what that means.

For those that don't know, "tent pole" or "popcorn" films are heavily promoted, usually large scale productions. Most are part of a franchise or potential franchise and are expected by studios to turn a profit in a short period of time. At a reported $200 million budget and with potentially 3 movies in the franchise, 'G.I. Joe' most definitely qualifies.

Post-production work has already begun for the film and with just a little over a year until its August 7, 2009 theatrical release, fans are hoping we may get a trailer around Super Bowl time. I also read that Paramount may show a teaser of the film at the annual G.I. Joe convention called Joe Con 2008 at the end of this month. The Final Dance Battle Is Here!!! (Kinda Sorta) ;-)

It's dance battle time again people!!! Miley Cyrus (aka Milez with a Z) and her partner in crime Mandy Jiroux (aka Manderz with a Z) have finally released their highly-anticipated round 2 dance battle video on their YouTube-based Miley and Mandy show in hopes of defeating Jon M. Chu and Adam Sevani's ACDC Crew once and for all.

From being spoofed in the opening act of the 2008 MTV Movie Awards to today's Carson Daly Show and E! News where you were able to see a sneak peek of the newest video, this little dance battle has lived up to its big name (Biggest Online Dance Battle in YouTube History) and has truly taken pop culture by storm. Jon Chu has told me that he can't even believe how popular this whole thing has gotten.

Can't get enough? Fans can listen to the live LA-based KISS FM radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest tomorrow, because Mandy will be chatting with Ryan about the release of their video.

With special guests like illusionist David Blaine, Joey Fatone from NSYNC, hosts Carson Daly and Ryan Seacrest, Jenna's friend Emmanuelle Chriqui, and of course our dynamic duo Chenna (aka Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum), the M&M Cru really stepped up their game for this video. I loved Jenna's routine with Miley and Mandy, but my fav is her dancing with Chan as he shows us some crazy stunts on the streets of Prague.

Also, it looks like I was right about the video I posted recently showing Chan and Jenna dancing with fans in Old Square in the center of Prague. Although that footage did not make it into this video, it was clearly filmed at the same time.

The biggest surprise is the appearance of Jon Chu and Adam Sevani at the end of the video, but I was extremely happy and not surprised to see that this really isn't the "final dance battle" as the M&M Cru would lead us to believe. From what Jon and Adam are saying it looks like fans may have one more video to look forward to where both crews are going to battle IN PERSON. I so can't wait. We'll all have to stay tuned.

In Channing's movie 'Stop-Loss', why are the patches on the uniforms and tattoos of the flag backwards?


CTU Answer

To wear our country's flag properly, the field of stars is supposed to be worn closest to your heart. When worn on the sleeve of a military uniform, the flag should appear to be advancing and not retreating.

If your patch or tattoo is to be worn on your LEFT sleeve, you should use a left flag (which is what most of us are used to seeing). For patches or tattoos worn on your RIGHT sleeve, you should use a "right" or "reversed field" flag. Channing's tattoo is on his right arm in 'Stop-Loss', so he was given a right flag.

I just wondered if you could please tell me what jacket this is. It's worn by Channing Tatum while playing Tyler Gage in 'Step Up 2: The Streets'. Please could you try and find out the make and name of this jacket please?

CTU Answer

I could not get all of the details on this one, but thanks to the film's director and his costume designer we at least now know a little more about the sweatshirt Channing is wearing in the club scene in 'Step Up 2: The Streets'.

Director Jon M. Chu was nice enough to forward the question to the film's costumer designer, and they said that Chan's sweatshirt is made by Nike. So hopefully that info can at least give fans a starting point to track down the popular clothing item.

CTU EXCLUSIVE: New Personal Photos of Channing Tatum's Girlfriend Jenna Dewan at Gabriella Axelrad Education Foundation Gala

My two favorite things to write about on this site are personal pictures sent to me by Chan and his family and fan encounters. For the first time, I get to write about both in one post.

As I recently mentioned, Channing Tatum's girlfriend Jenna Dewan was chosen to receive the Limelight Award from the Gabriella Axelrad Education Foundation at their annual gala last Saturday night. It was a private event, and I had not been able to find any photos.

Fast forward to this past Thursday when I received a very special email from Chan's mom Kay. Believe it or not, she sent me exclusive personal photos from the gala that show Jenna, her parents, and Chan's parents on the campus of UCLA where the event was held.

Although we've seen one photo of Jenna's dad Darryl before, this may be the first time fans are getting to see Jenna's mom Nancy and step dad Claude.

Even though Chan was sadly not able to attend the event, since he is still filming 'G.I. Joe' in Prague, his parents were their to support his longtime girlfriend, and Chan's mom told me they are extremely proud of Jenna's well-deserved achievement.

Fabulous Jenna Dewan fan Mel F. had a lucky encounter with Jenna when she ran into her on the campus of UCLA. Here's what she had to say about her encounter:

Hi Q!

Last Saturday night I was walking home and ran into Jenna Dewan a couple hundred feet from my dorm! She looked absolutely gorgeous..and she was so nice! A couple little girls came over to tell her something about dance and Jenna was such a sweetheart to them. She seems like she'd be great with kids, especially since she's an inspiration to so many of them. I asked her about Channing, and her face just lit up.. they seem like they'd be the perfect couple! =) It was an amazing encounter, and I hope that Jenna continues to have great success for the future!

Finally, CTU reader Erin submitted a video that was created by Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan fan Lainy from the Czech Republic. The video shows photos of Jenna working with the children of St. Judes hospital, which I'm sure is part of the reason why she was chosen for this year's Limelight Award.

REMINDER: Channing Tatum's 'Step Up 2: The Streets' Premieres in Taiwan TODAY!!!

I wanted to remind all of Channing Tatum's Fabulous Fans in Taiwan that his world-wide hit 'Step Up 2: The Streets' premiered in your country TODAY!!!

Although I can't read Taiwanese to save my life, I was able to find what I think is the movie's official site at IM.tv (Taiwan's version of MySpace).

On the site, you can find additional information, movie clips, trailers, dance contest videos, graphics, photos and more, so make sure to check it out.

In addition to the Taiwanese version of official site and the movie poster, I also found the Taiwanese trailer for 'Step Up 2'. You can watch the video below. Enjoy!

RUMOR OR REEL?: First Look at Poster & Snake Eyes Action Figure for Channing Tatum's 'G.I. Joe'

This one's more rumor than "reel" at this point. The awesome poster that you see to the right was actually created by a fan from the promotional photos that have been released by Channing Tatum's upcoming big budget film 'G.I. Joe'.

As far as the new action figure is concerned, I found the photo below at FusedFilmBlog.com, but I have not been able to confirm if this really is an example of the action figure that will be released by the toy company Hasbro for the character Snake Eyes.

Since the first promotional photo the film released was also Snake Eyes, there may be some truth to this one. Seeing the photo below gives me hope that we all may be able to have some or all of the action figures for Channing's character Duke in our stockings for the holidays. *fingers crossed*

Regardless, I can't wait to see Chan's action figure, and I'll keep everyone posted.

'G.I. Joe' is currently filming in Prague and is scheduled for an August 7, 2009 theatrical release. You can CLICK HERE to get a complete list of release dates around the world for the film.

UPDATE (6/7/2008): Thanks to CTU reader Ludracul for pointing me in the right direction on this one. The photo above is a 12-inch premium figurine that will be released by the specialty toy company Sideshow Collectibles, a leader in the manufacturing of licensed and proprietary high-end toys.

In February, Sideshow signed a licensing agreement with Hasbro, Inc. to create a new line of 12-inch figures based on characters from the 'G.I. JOE VS. COBRA' Universe. From the press release that I found, it's highly possible they may also be creating collectibles for the 'G.I. Joe' movie too.

Sideshow's line of G.I. JOE 12-inch figures will offer highly detailed, mixed-medium versions of fan favorite heroic G.I. JOE and villainous Cobra characters. In addition to the regular action figures that Hasbro will release for the film at some point, the specialty figures from Sideshow are expected to release beginning in 3rd Quarter 2008, with retail prices starting at $79.99.

As the famed G.I. Joe public service announcements or PSA's always say..."And now you know and knowing is half the battle".
